I haven't had to add extra liquid but if you need to as long as it's not cold I'm sure it would be alright.

I use a trivet on my counter top anyway, but I have never taken it out of the liner. So if I did take it out that is what I would use. I have put the pot in my oven and placed tin foil as a lid and I imagine that is a similar temp for the pot.

I did and it was fine. Not sure if it's recommended but it's ceramic and I put other ceramic cookware in the oven also.
