quite noisy but not the loudest kettle I've ever had but it doesn't squeal like other kettles do.

The element cover at the bottom of the kettle is Stainless Steel, but the interior walls are composite (some kind of plastic).

No, it is mainly red plastic, with the top band being brushed aluminium, I think, not stainless steel.

I don't but I find the temp buttons on the top very handy indeed. They each light up (70, 80, 90 then 100 deg as the kettle boils) as the heating progresses.
