If the Sony DVD player has an Ethernet port then it will work as the device believes it is a wired connection to a modem because this wireless adapter plugs into the Ethernet port. It us a pain to set up on your PC, but once set up works a treat.

I tried one with my Tivo but was so disappointed by its performance I sent it back. It would not stay connected to the router on 2.4 & 5ghz. The signal had to pass through one wooden floor and a single brick wall. The box takes your WiFi signal and converts it to ethernet. For most things it does it very well. The one possible problem you could have is if Sky have some protocol/software which their router does not put out on WiFi. Mine is used with a Talktalk router and for most things I need it does the job BUT when watching Sky Arts via the internet the picture breaks up. Yet BBC iPlayer etc are absolutely fine. see less
