From my research into this product I am unable to find a way to connect it wirelessly to a PC. As it does not seem to have the required security level software to enable a secure connection to be made to a pc. This may change in the future as a new raft of Windows tablets will make an appearance and no doubt a Windows app will appear to support these devices along the lines of IOS and Android. In the meantime storing your files in the Cloud (Google, Microsoft) may be a workaround see less

With the kingston app you stream directly from the hard drive and that is fine. But if you use Aceplayer then you upload the movie to your ipad, watch it and then delete it from your ipad, whilst it still exists on your kingston widrive. I have just spent nearly 7 months using the widrive with the kingston app and Aceplayer app in Afghanistan whilst not on duty. Probably like you, I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't work, but actually it does, and I can't think of a single fault with it (other than you need a laptop or PC to download your movies onto the widrive in the first instance). I also got the largest widrive, which holds loads and I'm pleased I did.
Hope this is of use to you. see less

Answer:
I have only used it with android and ios devices without a problem and have no experience with the kindle. Regarding the supported formats you better have a look at the manual (from the kingston website).

Yes you can. You can connect it like a normal external drive via USB, or you can use the Wi-Fi function to connect as a wireless drive. I use it for my iPhone 5S (wireless mode) and my Galaxy Note 2014. Works like a charm. Also good to note, once charged, it can run without any source of power for up to 3-4 hours.
