Got mine for a smoker. I don't own a gas BBQ so I don't know what you can put on them? However, if it helps, I can confirm that it is just Wood chips that arrive. If you can put wood chips on your gas BBQ, then it is the product for you. Don't forget to soak!

The chips are fairly small and it's a decent sized potful. I put them in a triangular box between the burners of a gas BBQ. Enough for about 10 fillings I should think.

They are just for imbuing the items cooked with hickory smoke flavour. The chips are soaked and placed in a triangular container between the burners

The chips are roughly the size of a penny. I have a small drum smoker. Once the chips had been soaked, two or three handfuls will last for an hour or so.
