Depends how tall you are. I'm 5'7" with 40 chest. I go for large. And it's really comfortably tight

I primarily use my top when training in an unheated gym. I warm up wearing the base layer under a hoodie and tee shirt.
The base layer and tee are okay once you've warmed up. Not sure how effective it would be in extreme conditions. But it is
an excellent product.
