This is not suitable for any hamsters in my opinion.
This is the worst constructed cage ever and I lost 4 hamsters after buying 2 of these, because they were so poorly constructed. Amazon were great though and sent me a refund despite not asking for one, solely informing them of the shoddiness of the product.

Yes, you are better off with a fish tank or plastic tub for a dwarf hamster, this cage is more suitable for a Syrian hamster. A dwarf hamster will squish itself in and squeeze in between the bars.
