They use a standard jack which simply plugs into the devices headphone socket, so as long as the kindle has a headphone socket they will work fine.

Hi Deborah, the x-mini max 2 can be plugged into as many other x-mini max 2 speakers as you want, but you do need a "buddy jack". I don't know if you can plug it into the x-mini max V1, but so long as the connection is the same I don't see why not.

You carry it separately. However they come in a little black bag which both speakers and lead will fit..... albeit snugly.
