The latest version (from March 2015) does not have rechargeable batteries as they reduce performance too much. It does come with 2 sets of batteries you require for the car in the box though, so you do not hav to buy any batteries until they run out.

Can't remember but car is poor. Batteries run out in no time and speeds are not uo to much. Bought it for my 4 year old and did not go down well

There is a contact seller part babe I've had to contact sellers before foe different reasons.. Try it surely your within your rights! Items shouldn't break within a couple of hours especially a child's toy! Give it a go
