By turning the cup size to the largest setting and the strength setting to 75% strong! the double cup button issues enough coffee to fill a travel flask. And as a black coffee drinker, it does make a really nice Americano.

Answer:
Not a lot as far as I can see. The 4200 is a great machine which I have been using for 7 weeks or so. It makes good coffee (I use lavazza rossa / crema) with no mess whatsoever. I expect the 4000 will perform as well. When I bought from Amazon it was £229 for the 4200 it's now £100 more expensive???????
