This is the diameter of the lens in millimetres. If this number is 58 then the 58mm filter will fit. If not you need to buy the filter in … see more It depends which sigma lens you have. Hope that helps.

Answer:
It will only fit if the thread on the end of your 50mm Nicon lens is 58mm. These filters are available in various sizes to suit the lens thread.
l would think that your 50mm Nicon lens probably has a larger filter thread than 58mm, so therefore check before buying.

The filter screws onto the front of your lens so you need to find out its size. A polarizing filter of the right screw thread size (Refer to your lens manual) will work on your lens and is well worth buying. If you use autofocus a lot then buy a circular polarizer rather than a linear one. The difference between my hoya pro digital filter and the one you mention is quality; mine, for use by professionals, normally would be totally out of my price range at £90 but I bought it on Amazon for £24 an offer I could not miss; usually I would expect to pay about £30 for an ordinary Hoya polarizer which are very good. Hope this answers your question. see less

Answer:
if it is say 49mm on the front of lense than you need 49mm screwing filter to attach to a lense. 52mm will not fit. 50mm is the focal length of lense which is not related to filter. i suggest any filter you buy for this lense should have 49mm screwing size filter. hope this will help.
