Answer:
Only the lid detaches from the body, so I wouldn't try putting anything in a dishwasher. The blades are detachable, but I don't imagine you'd want to do so unless you were changing them for new ones. You can rinse the grinding compartment and the lid under the tap very easily and it doesn't need any more than that. I haven't tried flaxseeds but pretty much everything else. I suspect it would mill them though. However found difficult to clean and essential oils dissolve the plastic clear lid rendering it sticky and opaque.

Hi Mrs T,
Haven't tried nutmeg but it turns Cinnamon Sticks in to powder in seconds and the flavour is tastier & stronger than shop purchased powder.
As for Nutmeg, why not try this. Bash the nutmeg "nut" with a hammer then grind up a small portion to see if that works. If it does, there's your answer.… see more

I'd have thought putting a whole nutmeg in might damage the blades. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Very best Regards,

Answer:
Yes, but the cavity is very small and is not detachable and hence difficult to wash. This could grind it to a fine powder as I used it to grind pepper corns. I would say buy one with a bigger cavity and more power. I hope this answer helps. Mine burned out and I am buying a Krups one!
