Hi yes this lens will work perfectly on a D7100. This is the camera I currently have and have been getting excellent results with the 50 1.8D. If you are thinking about it don't hesitate it is one of Nikons cheapest sharpest lenses.

Answer:
With no built-in AF motor or aperture feeler for manual-focus lenses, it only autofocuses with AF-S and older professional AF-I lenses, same as Nikon's other cheap DSLRs.
