The Cotman watercolours are hues so are not the genuine cadmiums etc. This does not mean they are bad quality, but if you want the genuine pigments, you would need to purchase the artists/professional range from Winsor and Newton.

Yes the case and palette is plastic. Palette not really deep enough for mixing colours but this set is such good value for money. I am really pleased with it.
