5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value 7 Sept. 2012
First up I did not buy this through Amazon but direct from Dracotek but I saw no reviews on here and thought I'd write one to try and help people. I asked some questions of Dracotek before purchase and they were prompt, clear and very helpful. I paid for 8 day delivery and it turned up bang on time. The box had a slight dent on one corner (despite being very well packed in a huge amount of bubble wrap!) the contents were undamaged.

Here's my review which is based on some tweets I did (lots of people were asking questions).

I got exactly what was described, including 2 batteries, a screen protector and English manual and a gel-type cover/case. Delivery was on time too. The phone has an untouched standard Android ICS install and it is unlocked (not tied to a service provider) but is is not rooted.

Screen: it's clear, bright and responsive. It came with additional screen protector fitted although on mine the screen protector is lifting slightly due to poor fitting so I might remove it. It has the usual brightness controls and on it's brightest it is easily visible in bright sunlight. In most other daylight situtations the half-brightness setting is also excellent (saves battery) and indoors/slight shade you can use the lowest setting very comfortably. I played an HD 720p video on this phone and it was excellent quality. The Gapaxy S3 does have a better screen but you have to run the video on both phones next to each other to see the difference.

Cameras: 0.3MP front camera is ok. I've not used it for Skype or anything but it is unobtrusive and gives pretty decent results. The rear 5MP camera has dual LED flash and gives excellent results. ICS comes with panorama features which work well on this unit.

CPUs:this is a very nifty unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Was definitely worth the punt 18 Sept. 2012

I was a wee bit apprehensive when placing the order due to the lack of a proven track record for this particular handset. I took the plunge due to Dracotek's reputation and the very positive feedback about the other handsets they sell.

First and foremost I have to commend Dracotek for the customer service. Despatched within deadline, arrived early, and responded promptly to my general and technical questions. I can definitely recommend them as a seller.

On to the phone. The screen is good quality and very responsive. Certainly as good as my HTC HD2. I'm still getting used to the slightly different shaped screen having had the HD2 for 2.5 years. It is a few millimetres longer and it is noticeable to the naked eye. Think of going from a standard to a widescreen telly/monitor and you'll get the picture (pun intended) That's more of an issue for me though and is certainly not a criticism of the phone.

I have also experienced problems with the calendar and haven't been able to overcome it to use my Google calendar with the stock app. However, I only used the web based version on my HD2 anyway so I've just carried on with that.

I've easily installed all of the apps I'd already got on my Nexus7, plus some new ones more suited to a phone. However, unlike the HD2 with its ad hoc network, I can tether to the N7 to share the data connection with this phone. That was one of the primary reasons for buying it tbh.

Battery life seems very good so far and I've given it a hard time with wi-fi, GPS, plenty of web surfing and customising it.

Camera seems ok but I've never been a big user of them so can't say too much for/against it. I've used the front facing camera with Skype and that was absolutely fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Actually a pretty decent phone! 5 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase
So I took a bit of a risk and bought one of these, before there were any reviews! The reviews of other phones by Drakotek seemed good, and I was after a 4.3 inch dual-core phone, so this seemed to fit the bill. Others have presented extensive reviews, so I'll keep this short and sweet.

Good:
- Reasonably fast (knocks the socks off my old HTC Desire, but nowhere near a Galaxy SIII)
- Comes with two batteries
- Comes with a cover and screen protector
- Android 4 working nicely
- GPS works well
- Call quality seems fine
- Camera seems reasonable ... I'm not the biggest fan of phone cameras but it's ok
- Plenty of onboard space, plus expandable with micro-sd
- Touchscreen works fine, if not quite as responsive as the best of them
- Screen is bright and easy to read
- Battery life is excellent (~2 days on a charge, with sporadic usage)
- Wifi signal strength is reasonable (similar to the Desire)

Bad:
- BEWARE OF THE CHARGER! I don't think it's properly fused. My wife plugged her phone in to it (also HTC Desire) and after a couple of minutes there was a loud bang which tripped our mains fuses. This went straight in the bin (you can keep the usb cable). The HTC chargers work fine with the phone.
- Packaged headphones are completely useless (not that bothered about this) - also for the bin.
- Manual in chinglish (as expected)
- buttons are slightly fiddly (often takes me a couple of presses to hit the power or volume buttons)

The other issues are small and software related.

- the default google account seems to not work correctly with the calendar, so I ended up adding a second google account with the same details, but selecting "business", which solved it.
