Il libro ha il pregio,oltre a quello di essere ben scritto, di non essere pessimista e questa è una premessa per qualsiasi sviluppo. Non del tutto condivisibile è la tesi che attribuisce alla disomogenetà delle istituzioni e alle tensioni sindacali le colpe della stasi italiana. Lo mostra il fatto che in Italia ci sono moltissime imprese che innovano e vanno bene. In realtà il vero problema italiano è che abbiamo troppi imprenditori vecchi e fossilizzati su politiche del passato e manchiamo di nuovi imprenditori.
