- The grass is harvested by hand in the Polish summer when it has reached full height and maximum flavour intensity. It is then left to dry naturally and cut down to the proper length.

The source of Zubrowka's wealth of qualities is a plant of unassuming appearance called sweet grass, holy grass, Seneca grass or vanilla grass, or in Latin Hierochloe odorata. In Poland it is referred to as bison grass (bison in Polish is zubr). Bison grass contains coumarin, a glycoside with a distinctive fragrance, once generally used to flavour tobacco, cakes and beverages.

Discover the Legend
Żubrówka is a true icon of the vodka world. It has a rich heritage spanning 500 years with a taste derived from bison grass which is harvested in the ancient woodlands of eastern Poland. Żubrówka is produced in our Białystok distillery, a vodka production facility in eastern Poland that has been producing Żubrówka for almost 50 years.
The Żubrówka story stretches back to the fourteen century, when Casimir the Great sat on the throne of Poland. An enlightened king, he encouraged learning and science and legend says his reign saw Polish alchemists master the distillation of Polish ‘wódka’ for the first time.
After many centuries existing as a homemade vodka flavoured with bison grass, the Żubrówka vodka trademark was registered for the first time in 1894.

I then found myself in a child's playground fighting with a fox.
All in all a good night out, except of the fact that I wet myself
we have 50ml measure with lots of ice, 1/4 appletise 1/4 diet cheap lemonade, 3 or 4 slices of cucumber, fresh mint from the garden, all makes a perfect drink for any time any occasion
My rating 4/5 !
If you want to not be able to remember your night, this is the vodka for you!
It looks quite fun with the piece of grass in it and it has a nice story about why it's different and how it's made. It also sticks out a bit as the actual drink is green, only slightly but definitely green!
As is the way in my family, when this was received it was opened and everyone had a little taster. I'm not a vodka drinker so the best I can say is that it wasn't awful but the vodka drinkers amongst the family thought that it was lovely and a bit different from the norm.
