Mobile Broadband - Anywhere, Anytime Internet Access
Mobile broadband allows users to access the Internet anywhere, anytime without having to depend on Wi-Fi hotspots in coffee shops, airports, other public areas or the expensive tariff rates of hotel Internet service providers.
Zoom 3G Travel Router - What it Does:
Zoom’s portable 3G Travel Router creates a Wi-Fi Network when connected to your 3G USB modem; this allows you to share your mobile broadband Internet access between multiple Wi-Fi devices or people.
Wireless Internet from Your Mobile Broadband USB Modem
This impressive little device allows the user to create their own Wi-Fi hotspot absolutely anywhere using their 3G mobile broadband USB modem.
Wi-Fi Anywhere, Anytime
With the Zoom 4506 3G Travel Router, your computers, iPad Wi-Fi, mobile phones, games consoles, iPods or MP3/4 players... in fact any Wi-Fi enabled device can share your 3G Internet connection through high-speed Wireless-N. The Zoom 4506 3G Travel Router works anywhere you can receive a 3G signal – in a car, at home, at work, outdoors, at the airport, in a hotel, at a trade show - anywhere!
Wi-Fi in Seconds
Simply plug your USB Modem into the Zoom 4506 3G Travel Router, and then any Wi-Fi devices you choose can have fast, easy Internet access. Use it for just yourself, or share it with family members, friends, or business associates. The Travel Router can expand the range and enhance the data rate of your mobile broadband connections. Place the Zoom 3G Travel Router (With your 3G USB Modem connected) where the 3G signal strength is high. Then the Travel Router will complete the local connection to your devices with a robust Wireless-N signal.
The 3G Router is pocket-sized to enable the user to take it anywhere. It measures just 3.0 x 4.2 x 0.87 inches (7.6 x 10.5 x 2.18 cm), and is light at just 5 ounces (141.75g) including the battery.
Power & Flexibility
This travel router works anywhere your mobile broadband modem works, and what’s best is that you don't even need a power outlet! The Travel Router works for up to 7* hours on its built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. It also works and recharges when its small power adapter is plugged into a mains power outlet, or using the ‘In Car Charger’ (Sold separately – Model 4511-00-00F), meaning that you also can use the car, caravan or camper van power outlet to create your own Internet network anywhere you travel.

My kids have iPod Touches, my wife has her laptop and I have my iPad. How can we all get access to the Internet, at home, on holiday, in the car, at the airport etc?
Easy, you just need to create your own WiFi hotspot using this neat little mains/battery powered travel router.
Step 1 - Get this travel router and configure it with WPA security - this will keep you safe and stop others from hijacking the wireless connection (unless they know your password). This is easy to do using the admin software provided and there are full instructions on the CD provided.
Step 2 - Next you need a suitable USB modem that will work in your desired locations (using a locally sourced SIM card of course, to avoid huge roaming charges).
There are a number of options here:
Option 1: Buy the sibling product - the Zoom USB 3G Modem which is fully unlocked and will take any SIM card from any network - definately the most hassle free solution
Option 2: If you have an existing USB modem locked to a UK network provider you could try and unlock it (a quick google on modem model number and you will be on the right track)
Option 3: Buy a USB modem in the country in which you are travelling to ( but remember unless you unlock it, it wont work when you get back home) - it will probably come with a pre-charged SIM card with say 1GB data. In Portugal, this cost around 40 euros.
Important - before buying a local USB modem remember to first check the compatibilty list on the Zoom Website - most mainstream modems are supported
Step 3 - Plug in the USB Modem with a locally source SIM data card and switch on. In the majority of circumstances it should simply work.Read more ›
1- my office is a steel-framed building so phone signal is very poor (no 3G inside the building)
2- I do a bit of Forex Trading, and can't get to the web site on the office network (it's classified as gambling)
3- my laptop is so old its USB ports are getting creaky - they have stopped recognising USB 3G modems
4- when we go caravanning, there are 3 of us on laptops all fighting for the 3G dongle
5- at peak times the home broadband slows to a crawl (3 laptops again), and 3G could help us out
I was truly amazed - it's absolutely brilliant!
Firstly it installed without any complaint. 60 seconds to mobile broadband is about right (it even arrives with a fully charged battery though i ran it plugged into the mains the first time i used it). You simply set security with the supplied short ethernet cable, connect over wireless, and Bob's your uncle. It has accepted two random dongles with no complaints (in fact no comment at all - no setup required) and just got on with the job
I can put it on the windowsill outside the office and it picks up a full signal, but i can stay sat at my desk. Job done.
I bought another 3G dongle so I have Voda and T-Mobile. That seems to cover everywhere it's possible to cover. The router isn't "chatty" so it doesn't use up all your PAYG
I can carry on using an ageing laptop because it doesn't matter that the USB ports don't work any more
I've had it for a couple of weeks now. It's small - very small - and very neat. I constructed a power cable that plugs into a USB port to charge it at lunchtime, which is about the only thing missing.
Get one - at this price you won't regret it!Read more ›
Incredibly easy to use, buy a pay as you go data sim (enable the sim), pop into your 3g modem, modem into router, switch on and you have a wireless internet connection in the middle of a field (if that's your thing) for up to 250 devices!
A few people have said they havent been able to get this to work. It's worth noting as this modem works with hundred's of 3G modems you need to make sure you enter the correct connection (APN, etc) details for your SIM card. You can get this info from your 3G supplier, google them, or the Zoom website lists them for pretty much every network world wide.
You can also plug this router into a LAN connection and it will share that out (for example is the hotel you're in only has a LAN cable on the desk, plug this in and it will share out the connection as wireless).
This router is every bit as good as a desktop router / cable modem as it does proper fire walling etc and has all the bits you'd expect to find on a fully fledged broadband router with the addition it will run off a battery. Replacement batteries are easily picked up on Amazon for only a few pound.
My last tip, on the bottom of the router there is a sticker with your model number and serial number which you will need from time to time. This sticker will rub off within days under normal use and this information is not retrievable from anywhere else. In hind sight I should have taken a copy of mine and protected it with sticky tape.
