This is the first Chris Ryan novel I a have read and I'm now hooked. The authors unique writing style is chilling, funny, violent and moving, whilst giving a realistic feel to a story thats so action packed and beautifully written. It gives a gripping insight into the life of an SAS soldier whose life has taken a turn for the worse.
When Geordie Sharp arrives home and realises his family have been kidnapped, he desperately tries to find a way to beat the seemingly untouchable enemy. Many other events unfold but I wouldn't want to give too much away. Its obvious that Chris Ryan has had simular experiences to that of the main character, as the description of such small things make it feel almost biographical. The sense of realism this book gives is like nothing i've read before.
I would recommend Zero Option to anyone who enjoys this type of story and its a must have for any Chris Ryan fan. Brilliant!

I felt that this encounter with Geordie Sharp far surpassed 'Stand By, Stand By'. Chris Ryan's fiction is only second to Andy Mcnab and I think that this is a real compliment to Ryan. The fact he can be compared to Mcnab is a real achievement and I eagerly await his future novels.

A continuation of the brilliant Stand by Stand by. SAS officer Geordie sharp arrives home from a mission to find that the IRA have taken what he holds most dear. A brilliant read which keeps you on tender hooks from start to finish.

I enjoy immensely Chris Ryan's books. I have great admiration for the men (and women) of the SAS Regiment and their courage and determination is well documented in his "stories". This one is no exception.

Brillaint follow on, and unlike some sequels (some of ryans included) you can just finish the last page of Stand By, Stand By and start reading the first page of Zero Option without feeling like youve missed something inbetween as it starts in the second the first one finishs. Brilliant read, well established characters (including the introduction of a particular favorite of mine Billy "Whinger" Whatson) and also an intense plot. MAKE SURE YOU READ STAND BY STAND BY FIRST THOUGH

I read Chris Ryans previous book "Stand By Stand By" (Which I found whilst in hospital) and thought it was brillant, I was instantly hooked, so I decided to buy this book, my thoughts are not to buy this book until you have read the book previous as the storys are one. But secondly I feel this is not the best of his books, some parts seem very slow and dragged out, the storyline is not as convincing as his previous, but all in all it falls into place and is quite a good book and a must of have for SAS/Chris Ryan fans.

I like Chris's style having read The One That Got Away some time ago, I decided to try his fiction.
Having some military experience, I enjoy the way he weaves in the factual stuff without swamping the reader with jargon.

In spite of accusations of embellishment, Ryan's autobiographical "The One that Got Away" certainly had a ring of realism about it, which set it apart in the genre, and made it a bestseller. Ryan recreates that sense of reality in his action sequences in his early novels, and this book is worth buying for those alone. His storyline, however, is much less convincing, and I found that events conveniently and continually fell into place, to bring about a predictable outcome.
