Zenzoris Returns (The Sophie Radcliffe Series Book 1) by Jenny Burnley. Sophie Radcliffe is a top agent in the Intergalactic Law Enforcement Agency, feisty, with technology and computer skills that compete with even the most advanced species, not to mention a photographic memory make her the go to agent when things go wrong, and things have gone very wrong. Zenzoris, a dangers Drogg hell bent on domination of all the universes has escaped the seemingly impenetrable prison Sophie herself had devised, and boy is he angry. The destruction of Earth and Sophie priority on his agenda. By her side her partner, Tom Logan, an expert with weapons, and Justin Adams, a linguistic whose ear can crack even the most complex language in minutes. This trio now embark to return Zenzoris to his rightful imprisonment. But something about the whole thing seems off, a hooded figure is seen aided what should have been an impossible escape attempt. Who is this, and what motives so they have for freeing the most terrifying enemy the Intergalactic Law Enforcement Agency has ever encountered?

With an exciting plot and twists this is one science fiction easy to lose yourself in. It takes all the aspects of sci-fi, technology, space travel, aliens, and makes it easily accessible, central to the plot, but not all-encompassing. The story itself focuses on the events within Sophie's unit, whilst successfully creating scope and introducing aliens, their differences and a little of their culture. The characters are well-crafted, expressive and interesting. For a book that takes about an hour to read this is no small feat and pays great homage to the author's talents. I look forward to more work from this author. In fact, I have already purchased another copy of this for a friend.

It starts with action and boldly drawn believable characters. They compel you to follow through a rip-roaring adventure with them that keeps you in turn bewildered, intrigued and fascinated. Even if sci-fi isn't your usual genre to read this one will be. I couldn't forsee the ending or the twists. Well done Jenny Burnley and keep on writing so that there's another adventure to follow soon.

Don't be deceived by the genre. it's got great, well-drawn characters, not your typical sci-fi. Exciting plot, good twist. A great read on the beach or wrapped up on a cold, winter night. Can' t wait for the next in the series. Haven't laughed or been scared at the same time so much for years. Read it; you won't be disappointed.

Although I’m not generally a sci-fi fan, I really enjoyed Zenzoris Returns. The story zips along at a breakneck pace with some neat twists along the way. I also loved the feisty heroine Sophie Radcliffe. Be aware that this is very short – you will finish it in one sitting, especially as it’s so exciting. Also, as other reviewers have pointed out, it appears at first that this is a sequel to another story – sadly I discovered it wasn’t. But all in all, an easy, enjoyable read and I hope that Sophie will be starring in a full-length novel before too long!

This is a great little story and there belies the problem, it`s too short. Jenny`s style is both sharp, jaunty and stuffed with great ideas. Particularly liked the concept of a life force always having its own identical android at his side, I want one! But I`m not particularly keen of having a portal in my bedroom. Not really being a sci-fi fan I take some winning over and I was one. The author has a good command of tension making you want to turn the pages. BUT THERE`S NOT ENOUGH OF THEM.
Come on Jenny, get your head down and make it work.

I have to say I was drawn to this by the author's quirky and appealing tweets!
It's not my usual choice of genre, but I'm so glad to have discovered such a fun read - exciting, fast-paced with really great, well-crafted characters and a good twist.
Early pages made me stop to check that I hadn't missed an earlier book (I hadn't, there isn't one) but I was quickly hooked.
Sophie is a really great character. I'll be looking out for the next in her series of adventures.

Sci-fi is not my usual choice, but truthfully, once I got into it I began to really enjoy it and never cottoned on to the twist at the end.
I will definitely read the rest of the series as there did not seem to be anything too outrageous.I liked the character of Sophie Radcliffe, she was written with a certain restraint which was pleasing.

This sci-fi story - the first in a series - kept me turning the virtual pages right from the start. On finishing it and looking back on the story it felt like a much longer book, due to the well-drawn characters and the clever plot. The author keeps up the tension skilfully and makes you want to keep on reading - and also look forward to the next in the series, which will hopefully be out soon. A very promising new author.
