Product Description

Zeitgeist: The Movie, by Peter Joseph. Originally released in 2007 as a non-commercial performance work - only later to evolve into an unprecedented internet sensation - Zeitgeist: The Movie is a aesthetically driven documentary film divided into three sections - each a commentary on what the director calls angles of "Social Mythology". The first section, entitled "The Greatest Story Ever Told", explores the topic of comparative religion, specifically the controversial relationship between early pagan religions and their influence on the Judeo-Christian system of belief as it is practiced and defined today. The second section, entitled "All the World's a Stage" explores the events of September 11th 2001 from the stand point of inconsistencies, inaccuracies and improbabilities with regard to the official account put forward by the United States Government. The third section, entitled "Don't Mind the Men Behind the Curtain" explores a series of monetary related and power issues, including central banking, money creation, wars for profit and their pretexts, terrorism, the consequence of excessive security, government corruption and much more. Zeitgeist: The Movie has undergone a series of Updates overtime and the DVD provided here is current, including the 2010 Update. Please also note that a free 220 page Companion Source Guide which sources virtually everything in the film can be found online. (Simply search for "Zeitgeist Companion Source Guide") Zeitgeist: The Movie was followed in 2008 by a sequel entitled Zeitgeist: Addendum.

Historically, i have always been sceptical of most conspiracy theories. 'Man never went to the moon' comes to mind as one of the most convincing and yet, as such a big statement - ultimately hard to believe. Zeitgeist is well presented, albeit a rather amateur/low budget affair. The film begins (highly presumptiously) by contesting religion as a whole, linking astronomical events to the alleged 'fabricated' storytelling of jesus christ and the strange similarities with other 'mythologies' around the world at the time. This section of the film makes for interesting viewing, although fails to establish a solid evidence base for its argument. The latter part of the film concentrates on American history, the creation of a private central banking institute and the perceived influence key players had on wars within the last 100 years. Intelligently, Zeitgeist does not patronise the viewer by suggesting 'we are right, listen to us'. Instead the film intends to provoke thought and it that sense, it succeeds tremendously.

I can only acertain that there is an reason for there being no review on Amazon for this film.

This is vitally important, life changing viewing. I cannot stress how informative, important, and disturbing this film is. It details exactly what I beleive we all feel in our souls, and does an incredible job of highlighting the key factors that are leading us blindly into a world ruled by money and private enterprise.

I care not to divulge what is said in this film, only that you simply must watch it, and spread the word. It's powerful cinema like this that can inspire a nation to educate themselves and do something about our current climate.

I only hope this review is published, and read, and acted upon.

Zeitgeist is nothing if not controversial and will undoubtably polarise viewers based on their existing beliefs and standpoint. I don't know if anyone's view will be changed but it's healthy to challenge oneself and question the world around you - making this a must see film.

Arranged in three parts, Zeitgeist (meaning 'spirit of the times') addresses religion, (in particular Christianity), the 9/11 World trade Centre disaster and the financial institutions of the world (focusing on the US).

Those that read and enjoyed John Pilger's New Rulers of the World will find much in common with the latter section - but with a particlar focus on the United States' federal bank.

Conventional thinkers will dismiss this film as left-wing propoganda and conspiracy theoryist and those that share the views will see it as further proof to further their beliefs.

Watch it and make your own mind up.

I watched this film a few years back when it appeared on the web as a free film. I watched the whole thing. This film will provoke anger and amazement, anger at what the people of this earth have to put up with and amazement that no one does anything about it.

Zeitgeist is epic in scale. Its overall argument, if I've understood it, is that the tiny minority of the 'haves' of the world have for centuries been insidiously manipulating the 'have-nots' for the personal gain and continued influence of the former. The program is split into three distinct parts: the first covers religion, the second the events of September 11th, and the third the influence of the big money-men on the events of the past three hundred years or so.

The religion-based first third of the film ties a broad link between the origins of Christianity and far older western astrology. The highlight of this section is it's comparisons of the Christ mythology with messianic characters from other religions. These show us that much of his story, such as the virgin birth, the 25th of December birthday, the cruxifiction and the resurrection are fundamental parts of other, forebearing faiths. More dubious is it's attempts to square elements of Christian scripture with astrological zodiac doctrine that had long since preceeded the rise of Judeo-Christianity.

The 9/11 section of the film asks difficult questions about what is believed about the events of that day. Why, for instance, if the plane which crashed into the Pentagon was vapourised by the heat of its own explosion, was it possible for the FBI to fingerprint-ID the terrorists who flew it into the building? Why is it that some of the 19 people named by the US Government as being involved in the hijackings are still alive and well and curious to know why the finger has been pointed at them?

That said, although the 9/11 section casts serious doubt on the official position, its ultimate conjecture that, "it looks like it might be an inside job, therefore it must be one" is weak.
