I bought the book as I'm off to Zante soon, but the guide had very little information on Zante itself. It seems to try to cover too many islands in one guide.

Whilst it is true this is a book, there the relevance ends. 10 minutes spent on the internet would give you more useful information. Don't waste your money.

My overall impression is that this book tries to do too much in one book - Kefalonia for example gets just 11 pages out of 128 in total. It would have been much better to have a separate book for each island, and then cover the respective island in more detail. Towards the end page 83 onwards is general hints and tips etc., in which island specific information (like tours and buses) is mixed in with general hints and tips (like language).

For anyone visiting just one island, I don't think the book is good value for money - it just didn't work for me. I have used other Marco Polo books in the past which are far more useful than this one, simply because they cover one island only (for example the series on the Canary Islands).

This guide is one of a series which I have found extremely helpful. The present book is no exception - the information and photographs are clear and a great aid to any visit to any of these islands. As with all these guides the 'inside tips' point out places to visit which are not in other guide books. I can recommend this book for anyone thinking of visiting any of these islands.

Brilliant guide - lots of information and detail. Disagree with the comment that there isn't enough information on each island. Many visitors go to these islands for beach holidays with a little bit of culture, and there is a lot more information included - for example there was a lot of detail on the Roman rooms in Skala which was very interesting. I think this was a fantastic guide with clear and concise information about the area - I'd definitely recommend it.

Directions are not clear, there are only a couple of roads on Zante but this does not explain where things are properly

This book is ok but there's a lot about the other islands in here so if you're just visiting Zakynthos it's not as helpful as it could be. I saw a guide book in the airport when I left which looked more detailed and would have been better for my trip but having said that this guide book gives you some basic information about the island and some ideas about places to visit.

This book is disappointing if you were expecting something likeThe Lonely Planet or The Rough Guide. It is very superficial and old-fashioned in its style. Only 18 pages ( and it's only a small book, with photographs taking up quite a lot of space) are about the island of Zakynthos itself, so a waste of money if that's the only island you're visiting.
