Works a treat with the Amazon Fire Stick, which otherwise has no separate audio output. Just plug the stick into one HDMI socket and a cable to your TV into the other, audio from the red and white phonos to your hi-fi amplifier. Good quality picture and sound.

I bought this to extract the audio bitstream from an HDMI source (be it Humax freesat, Samsung Bluray player, NowTV, Chromecast etc via output from Betron 5 way HDMI switch) to feed my old Yamaha AV amp via TOSLINK. This does the job admirably so far, I can get both DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 from suitable source (Blueray & Humax). The unit description says up to Dolby Digital 5.1, but I can get DTS signal too, so very happy here. It all depends on the source of course, thus the NowTV box only gets a 2 channel audio output (until Sky include 5.1 audio at some point!), but my amp translates this to NEO 6. I was a bit wary when purchasing as this unit seemed cheaper than many others available on amazon, so my expectation wasn't high! I need not have worried as so far, this unit is working great and fully meets my needs and getting a DTS signal from my Samsung Bluray player was a bonus.

Really useful device, can’t find any complaints, the sounds coming out of my Amp are beautiful, this unit strips the audio from the HDMI cable, and I feed it by optical cable to their “ZILONG Digital To Analogue Audio Decoder Converter” which then feeds my Amp and it all works really well.

Was hoping this box would allow me to pass through audio over HDMI at the same time as use the optical out. The optical out worked fine but maybe I was expecting too much from the box (despite 'Pass' being described as a product feature, maybe that only works if you don't have another cable plugged in). Plus points: the box is nicely built, feels very solid.

As a side note, I'm not a fan of the way multiple devices are all under one page on Amazon, it makes sifting through the reviews for each one difficult, and the star rating displayed doesn't necessarily match the relevant product. Sort it out Amazon.

Excellent device. Great quality and it enabled me to connect my new Samsung Blu Ray Player to an older AV receiver that did not have HDMI inputs (the Blu Ray only has HDMI) so I needed a device to extract the Toslink connection.

I've only had this for a few days, so can't comment on the long term durability of the item, but first impressions are very good.

Well packaged, this device has a good strong metal case, with gold plated HDMI in and outs. Out of curiosity I opened up the unit and found the PCB to be of good quality, with decent components.

So, onto the functionality - well it works! I am using this to de-embed stereo audio from the HDMI on my Nexus Player to plug into my HiFi. The unit has three modes of operation, each select by a switch on the front of the unit.

'Pass' - which basically leaves the original HDMI signal untouched and sends it straight to the output.
'2 CH' - De-embeds the stereo audio signal from the HDMI and outputs it on the Stereo Phono outputs, whilst still sending everything else to the HDMI.
'5.1CH' - De-embeds the 5.1 audio signal from the HDMI and outputs it on the optical Toslink connector, again whilst still sending everything else to the HDMI.

I have not tested the optical out on this unit, but I have no reason to doubt it works. Also, I haven't tested with any 5.1 content my HiFi is Stereo only.

It's worth noting that when you select either '2 Ch' or '5.1 Ch' mode the unit stops any audio getting to the HDMI output. So in my instance when I want to revert back to using the TV speakers as opposed to my HiFi I have to change the switch. It's also worth noting that when you change the switch there is 1-2 seconds of blank screen and silence whilst everything re-syncs. Purchased this item to extract the audio from HDMI to use with wireless headphones (TV headphone socket not easily accessible). However when 2CH is selected for the analogue audio output, this cuts the audio to HDMI output (the TV). This is OK, but means I cannot leave it in this setting permanently which I would prefer (and to control the TV with the remote).

I haven't checked digital output.

Recently bought an Apple TV 4, after having the previous two versions. Having also used the now omitted s/pdif digital output of ATV 3 on the newer model, I then discovered my fairly old Home Cinema Amp doesn't allow audio via HDMI.

This where the Zilong HDMI To HDMI + SPDIF + RCA product comes into play. Being able to split the HDMI output of my ATV4 to allow me to preserve my SPDIF connection, it works perfectly. Only allowing for a half a second audio delay when actioning playback, then all is good.

At just under £15, I was impressed by the build quality. I then double checked the Amazon site to find the prouduct is worth closer to £50.

If you're as stuck as I was, I'd recommend this product wholeheartedly.

As a bonus, being a Amazon Prime member, I ordered this late Saturday afternoon & received it before 13:00 on the Sunday. Impressive service.

On another note, having said the above, it's ironic that Amazon Chief Jeff Bezos has pulled support of selling the Apple TV 4 device on Amazon. This plus pulling support of Amazon Prime from ATV4 is frankly stupid. Especially as Amazon Prime is supported & available on ios9 & OSX. Not to mention Kindle. This unfortunately makes me look at Amazon in a poor light.
