ASRock motherboard support Lucid Virtu Universal MVP technology that improves your PC’s visuals, with faster response times, improved video processing and smoother media playback, all with low power consumption. Brilliantly designed for gaming, Virtu Universal MVP™ switchable graphics software assigns tasks dynamically to the best graphics resource and features two exciting techniques – HyperFormance™ and Virtual Vsync™.
Intel® Smart Connect Technology keeps content always up-to-date! It means that your email, favorite apps, and social networks are continually and automatically updated even when the system is asleep. Smart Connect will periodically wake up the PC while in a sleep state and check updates for things like email, Twitter, Facebook, etc. No more waiting for the latest world news or friends’ updates to be delivered—just enable this function and you’re up-to-date and ready to go.
Intel® Rapid Start Technology gets your device up and running faster from even the deepest sleep, saving time and battery life. It quickly returns where you left off with a PC that goes from deep-sleep to full awake in a flash. The ultra-responsive capability gives your device the power to quickly resume to Windows® 7 OS within few seconds and ensures ultra-low power consumption when on standby. With Intel® Rapid Start Technology, users can jump right back into everything they were doing!
Fast, Easy and Free – ASRock OMG technology allows you to establish an internet curfew or restrict internet access at specified times. Administrators are able to schedule the starting and ending hours of internet access granted to other users. Normally, ISPs (Internet Service Provider) will charge for internet curfew service. The service controls “all” the PCs connected at home through network remotely but all the PCs in that network will be restricted to access the internet at pre-setup times. However, ASRock OMG is a free tool for controlling internet access of each single PC. Parents can easily control internet access through BIOS setup to protect their kids from using Internet at inappropriate time, and meanwhile, enjoy their own internet space.
This motherboard is designed with a 8 + 4 Power Phase design. It features sturdy components and completely smooth power delivery to the CPU. Plus, it offers unmatched overclocking capability and enhanced performance with the lowest temperature for advanced gamers as well.

The Good - price, UEFI bios screen, power regulation and audio better than my old CD player.
The Bad - Confusing and difficult to access SATA sockets.
The Ugly - not the sort of board you will want to light up your case for.
To be fair I would buy this motherboard again, it's just so frustrating that the SATA ports are pointing sideways from a board that is likely to be fitted in a budget midi tower and unlike my last board they are not easy to understand.
Old AsRock board - Primary, Secondary, Third and Fourth - easy to understand and sockets point up from the board.
New AsRock board - Sata 3_0, 3_1, 3_A0 and 3_A1 plus the Sata 2 sockets 2_2, 2_3, 2_4, and 2_5 and just to confuse matters the handbook description starts with the Sata 2 sockets (page 36 in the online manual).
If you are confident at building your own PC, have a full tower case or just like a challenge this is a well specified motherboard with reasonable over-clocking facilities, great audio at a bargain price.
I would recommend placing your DDR3 memory in to slot A2 (second in B2 if you wish to run dual) on first boot with no other components installed to make sure it will POST and reach BIOS, add HDD and DVD etc one by one after with the obvious power offs in between each step and then just install windows ;)
Using i5 3570K, 8Gb Corsair Vengeance 8Gb (2x4Gb), GTX 460 Sonic Platinum OC Edition with this board and so far I'm really impressed for the price!
Only cons I've noticed are the front panel audio header is right at the bottom left of the board, it struggles to detect RAM, hard drive and DVD RW etc on first boot if they're all connected and the memory slots are very close to the CPU, so installing something like a CoolerMaster Evo 2 would be very tricky unless you have low profile memory sticks.
- Slightly smaller than a standard ATX, which provided more room in my PC case (still fits stand-offs perfectly)
- Offers both SLI and Crossfire, which at this price is good
- Withstood me putting on quite an amount of pressure during wiring it up, I thought I might of damaged it, but it worked perfectly!
- Asrock's Bios is extremely well designed and simple to use, no need for the manual
- Overall the motherboard has worked perfectly with my new build
Cons:
- When plugging in CPU power and ATX power, the sockets didn't seem to go fully into it. I applied quite a lot of pressure (as mentioned before) and the clips on each socket never 'clicked' into place. However they still function fine.
- Back panel (where all the ports and sockets go such as HDMI) didn't fit all to well. It still works and is accessible, but required about 10 minutes of maneuvering before I was satisfied.
Note to anyone buying the motherboard:
- I had lots of issues with trying to get audio set up on my Windows 7 system. You MUST use the audio driver which comes with the disc included, else if you're stupid like me, then you will find installing the drivers from Realtek and Asrock's websites will mess up your audio. Also, I found uninstalling the AMD High Definition Audio cleared things up. JUST USE THE CD PROVIDED! :)
Overall the motherboard is fantastic at this price and works with my gaming PC!
This board of course supports intel's on board graphics having a DVI, VGA and a HDMI port on the rear I/O.
If your an overclocker like me the UEFI BIOS is excellent for beginners and Pros alike allowing a multitude of different options while also making them easily accessible.
Pros
- Large amount of ports and options
- Price
- Looks fantastic
- UEFI BIOS
- Error Code LED on the board (So you know exactly what state your board is in)
Cons
- Can take a bit long to boot, but this could just be my settings.
The board feels sturdy and is very pleasing on the eye and looks like quality it was very easy to fit in my case and connect wires and cables except the stacked Sata ports which were very close to my drive bays so it made it very fiddly to connect them so might be worth fitting them before screwing the board down. When i first powered up the board i got an error A2 which was easily sorted and that was my only moan about this board.
The bios was also very easy to use in fact i didn't even need the manual, overclocking was very easy and i was able to get 4.4ghz by just changing one setting and leaving everything else on auto
I have no regrets buying this board at all and i now have a p.c that flies :D
