Combined with our customized UEFI, this exclusive feature enables higher DDR4 memory frequencies, lower latencies and enhanced stability while overclocking, extending all the way to extreme overclocking conditions, such as Liquid Nitrogen (LN2). OC Socket is 100% compatible with new Haswell-E LGA 2011-v3 CPUs, ensuring the ideal combination of overclocking performance and compatibility. Cache bus links areas such as CPU cores, DDR4 Memory Controllers, System Agent and the shared L3 Cache. It is a critical interconnect for the whole CPU subsystem. Higher cache bus frequency directly gives faster total sub-system performance. ASUS OC Socket exclusively provides an adjustable cache bus voltage to reach higher cache bus frequencies. This is the first platform to support DDR4 memory and it's able to drive memory frequencies to 3200MHz (and beyond when overclocked)! ASUS-exclusive T-Topology circuit design plus OC Socket provides superb memory-overclocking capability to unleash the full power of DDR4 by minimizing coupling noise and signal reflection. With innovative equidistant memory channels, it delivers the most balanced control and powerful overclocking compatibility. ASUS works with almost every DDR4 memory vendor to ensure the best compatibility. Games run swiftly and smoothly with high performance, prioritized bandwidth and vivid sound. Never-stutter in professional apps and heavy loading.
Note:Update the BIOS to the latest revision which may help with RAM compatibility.

Nice addition with the M2 slot as well, so if i want to upgrade from ssd at a later date i can for a further speed boost. This is sometimes not available on the lower priced Z170 cards. Overall I'd recommend it, layed out well, easy to follow manual for marrying up the LED, power cables from the front of the case etc...
There are two additional 4 pin case fan connectors on the motherboard for PWM fans (ones that the motherboard can control depending on the temperature its senses in the case) which can be set or left on automatic by using the ASUS AI Suite of software.
Overall I'd recommend it. Sensibly priced and no faults so far. I'm a firm believer that if it does the job there's no point paying more than you need to - this board is very good on that basis.
The bios has changed so much over the years that this was a piece of cake using the flash utility from the tools menu. Went smooth with no hitches. Booted up after that. recognized every device I had plugged into it and loaded windows on the 250gb SSD. All in all , a very good experience on this build. With all the main components, CPU, SSD, Video Card, and Ram. Few other items but the board did what it was supposed to do right out of the box. ASUS pulled through again. Very happy, Glad I got it.
UPDATE /// RAM has been making a buzzing noise, and whether it's the RAM or the slot, it happens.
Wish there was another USB port so I can use all my drives.
If you have a blue light only set up, then the small orange light on the side might ruin it. I quite like it amidst all the blue.
