About the Author

Debbie Johnson is a best-selling author who lives and works in Liverpool, where she divides her time between writing, caring for a small tribe of children and animals, and not doing the housework.
She worked as a journalist for many years, until she decided it would be more fun to make up her own stories than to tell other people’s. After trying her hand at pretty much every genre of writing other than Westerns and spy dramas, she has settled on women’s fiction that seems to make people laugh and make people cry, often at the same time.
Her books include The Birthday That Changed Everything, Pippa’s Cornish Dream, and Summer at the Comfort Food Cafe, all published by HarperCollins. She also ghost-wrote model and presenter Abbey Clancy’s debut novel, Remember My Name.
Follow her on twitter @debbiemjohnson, or at www.facebook.com/debbiejohnsonauthor – but be warned, she mainly talks about dogs.

Set aside a Sunday morning to read this because you won't want to put it down.
Lovely, well-rounded characters dealing with sadness and grief in such an acutely observed way.
I loved every word of it, crying at T, laughing at the look of disgust at X... I'm only sorry it's over.
Fans of Veronica Henry, Millie Johnson, Erica James and Lucies Dillon and Diamond will love this.

This is one of Debbie's best! I really identified with Rosehip and felt the same way she did about her sister Popcorn, and her ex-husband. Her son, Joe, reminds me of my own youngest, and Andrea, the girls' mum, is an absolute darling! Even Lewis is a kind, caring character, and everyone was there that needed to be. Debbie must have spent aeons thinking up clues and even writing the odd little poem, and there must have been an awful lot of detailed research in several aspects of this story. The book really does follow the letters of the alphabet, with hilarious titles for some of them and quite poignant for others. My favourite had to be the letter 'T' but I'll let you read the book to find out why!

All through the book I kept wondering how I would react in the situations the girls were in, and it brought home to me how precious some relationships are, although we may not realise it till much later.

I'm only sorry I've come to the end now, and have to wait a while before we get another book. Thank you, Ms Johnson, for another superb story.

It made me think. I don't have the best relationship with my mum but how would I feel if she died and I hadn't spoken to her for six months. A very poignant story with humour but the underlying theme is forgiveness. I would reread it. And i spoke to my mum

A moving, emotional, roller coaster of a read that moved me to tears, but ultimately left me smiling. This story is tender and uplifting as it deals with the major issues of family and forgiveness, love and loss, in an authentic and honest way. I loved it.

Totally engrossing book, so hard to put it down. Such alot that I could relate to in my own life and within my family.
It put alot of my own issues into perspective and has helped me to put a more balanced view to my life in general.
I have had a life like this for 26 years and I have seen how it has affected my mum too, more so recently as my own sister (who lives only doors away from mum) has now turned against her and how it has hurt my mum so much.
