About the Author

Debbie Johnson is a best-selling author who lives and works in Liverpool, where she divides her time between writing, caring for a small tribe of children and animals, and not doing the housework.
She worked as a journalist for many years, until she decided it would be more fun to make up her own stories than to tell other people’s. After trying her hand at pretty much every genre of writing other than Westerns and spy dramas, she has settled on women’s fiction that seems to make people laugh and make people cry, often at the same time.
Her books include The Birthday That Changed Everything, Pippa’s Cornish Dream, and Summer at the Comfort Food Cafe, all published by HarperCollins. She also ghost-wrote model and presenter Abbey Clancy’s debut novel, Remember My Name.

Set aside a Sunday morning to read this because you won't want to put it down.
Lovely, well-rounded characters dealing with sadness and grief in such an acutely observed way.
I loved every word of it, crying at T, laughing at the look of disgust at X... I'm only sorry it's over.
Fans of Veronica Henry, Millie Johnson, Erica James and Lucies Dillon and Diamond will love this.

** RECEIVED AN ADVANCED READER COPY FOR AN HONEST REVIEW **

Well the minute this book started I felt myself welling up. The prologue starts with Andrea explaining that she only has a few weeks to live and how she plans on bringing her daughters Poppy and Rose who don't talk to each other any more, back together again. Makes you stop and think and appreciate every day because you never know what's around the next corner.

Andrea decides that even though she's not there any more she's going to get her girls back together again and sets them a series of tasks that she hopes they'll complete. She sets all the plans up with her very good friend Lewis, who is also her solicitor, and Rose & Poppy very reluctantly agree to carrying out their Mother's last wishes.

The story skips back and forth between when the girls were younger and the present day and the reason they haven't spoken in years is slowly revealed.

Some of the tasks are bigger than others, but they are all designed to bring the girls back together again and let go of the hurt from the past. Very clever idea, and eventually after lots of emotion, they manage to move past their issues and move forward, sorting out how they feel about their current lives in the process too. They both seem to have gone to extremes in their unhappiness over the years, Rose was a comfort/binge eater and had really piled on the pounds and let herself go, whereas Poppy had gone in the other direction and was far too skinny through non-eating, exercising and job stress.

Very emotional story, my eyes were leaking quite a lot throughout the whole book(!) - but ultimately very uplifting too. I think the main message is make sure you appreciate everyone you love because they won't be there forever, be kind and let hurt feelings go, life's too short. Lovely book.

Easily the best book I've read of Debbie's, she has crafted a superb book and is going from strength to strength!

P is for Paris where it all began. J is for Jealousy where it all came undone. But the most important letter is F. F is for Forgiveness, the hardest of all.

Sisters Poppy and Rose used to be as close as two sisters could be, but it’s been over a decade since they last spoke. Until they both receive a call that tells them their mother has gone – without ever having the chance to see her daughters reunited.

Andrea, though, wasn’t the kind of woman to let a little thing like death stand in the way of her plans. Knowing her daughters better than they know themselves, she has left behind one very special last gift – the A-Z of Everything.

This is a powerful book that certainly makes you think and a must read for 2017

Today is publication day for one of my strongest contenders for Book of 2017 so far- The A to Z of Everything by Debbie Johnson.

At its heart, The A to Z of Everything has a broken family. Poppy and Rose may have been close as kids, but the sisters are now estranged following one epic mistake which tore their little family unit of three apart

Now the sisters have both learned to live with this, their lives continuing, both of them… happy. But Andrea, their mother, still feels the gaping hole that the loss of her tight-knit family has left in her heart. Knowing that her time is short, Andrea isn’t about to give up on her last wish- of seeing her daughters reconciled- and leaves a gift to both of them. The A to Z of Everything.

The four key characters in A to Z are truly brilliant. Andrea’s larger than life character makes for a fantastic, ultimately tragic, ringleader. I cried buckets over Andrea. I completely fell in love with her- and through her- with her daughters too.

Louis, as Andrea’s very best friend and confidante, is exquisite in his grief. His viewpoint adds an unbiased and not always favourable take on the sisters and their past behaviour. A dose of reality which plays a useful counterpoint to Andrea’s never-ending, unconditional love for her girls. Andrea and Louis’s story is the most beautiful testament the different faces of love- and where true love can be found in your life.

And then we come to Poppy and Rose. So far estranged that being in the same room is so painful that it’s almost impossible. Poppy, who has locked down all emotion and softness from her life. Rose, who is a mother herself. Who can’t value herself. Who is still clinging to the past.

If you’re looking to read about love in all this forms, this one’s for you. I have to say The A-Z of Everything is easy to read, because it pulls you straight in, and won’t let you put it down. Heart wrenching from the opening page, the concept of the book is refreshingly original. Think of characters with less than perfect lives, and a past that is profoundly broken. Reading about how the characters reconnect, and at the same time find themselves is a true journey of the heart. As the narrative moves between the past and the present as the story unfolds, the individual players are beautifully drawn, each with their own set of flaws and problems. Yet again Johnson has delivered a novel packed with powerful emotion, with a thought provoking depth.

Debbie Johnson recently won the hugely prestigious RoNA for the best contemporary romance novel of the 2016, with her book, The Comfort Food Cafe. In The A-Z of Everything we see her move her immense and proven writing talent on to another level. This latest book is guaranteed to leap straight to the top of readers’ Books of 2017 lists.

Grab the tissues. Enjoy. Then prepare yourself to feel hugely uplifted. This wonderful story will stay in your heart for a long time to come.
