There are six designs for pansies, some are embroidered in wine and pale yellow thread, then another larger one in lavenders and cream crewel wools, followed by a viola, again in cottons and an amazing example in stumpwork. There's a glorious snowdrop in ribbon work, a lily of the valley in shadow work, and at least two designs by the amazing Jane Nicholas a thistle and a true to life poppy in stumpwork.
This book assumes you are familiar with the simple embroidery stitches such as stem stitch, satin, fly, french knot and bullion wraps, anything else is shown in pictures as a "how to" lesson. There are so many amazing flowers shown in so many different stitches the only thing they have in common is their inspirational beauty. The book is a true embroidery gem if you like flowers you'll love this. A fantastic book.
