'70's nostalgia at it's best ... 20 tracks from the time when Bill Oddie was one of the most successful songwriters in Britain!!!
Melodic, outrageous ... and often just plain silly. The Goodies were just as good on record (33.33333 RPM LPs) as they were on the telly.
This is a must have for anyone who remembers Kitten Kong, the giant Dougal or those singing dogs (who appear to provide backing on at least one track).

Having always been a fan of the Goodies I've wanted to get hold of the songs. All the classics are here as well as one or two I'd forgotten about, So all in all if you're a fan this will make a good addition to whatever collection you might have.

Back in the dim mists of time, when I were a lad, three gibbon impersonators practically ruled the Universe. As far as I, and most of my schoolmates, were concerned Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke Taylor were the ultimate supreme beings, who brought the gifts of joy and laughter to a grim and depressing world (unlike our teachers who brought misery and were regarded in a totally different light!). The three ancient and sagacious masters of eckie thump were prophets of a new age, and their every pronouncement awaited with fevered anticipation. Had Timbo but gibbon the word, we would have risen up in revolution and overthrown nations (well, schools at least...) in his glorious name.

Fast forward a few decades. A glum bloke in his 30's is idly surfing the web, bored out of his tree by the misery and banality of adult life. A distant memory of a three seater bike and giant cats is stirred by a stray glimpse of Michael Aspel, and he thinks `I wonder if there is any thing by the Goodies in this here Amazon music store?' A few clicks of a mouse later and I was on this page, another few clicks and a couple of days impatient waiting and I was the proud owner of one of the best shiny round objects it has ever been my privilege to own.

Collecting 20 tracks recorded by the Goodies in their heyday, this is still as funny today as it was back then. In fact, funnier, as I now `get' the more adult jokes as well as the silliness I enjoyed as a kid. Even if it weren't for the waves of nostalgia threatening to drown me, I would still enjoy this record of classic comedy.

My adult self stands amazed at how musically proficient the Goodies were. They spoof so many styles, soul, country, blues, hard rock... And with expert musicianship, great singing and, in Mr. W.
