The DVD itself contains the first three episodes of the cartoon, where a young boy called Yugi finds and solves the mystery of the Millenium Puzzle, which endows him with ancient powers and turns him into a master duelist. In the first episode, Yugi battles the ruthless business tycoon Kaiba after Kaiba steals his grandfathers Blue Eyes White Dragon card. In the second episode we are introduced to the villan of the show, the evil and brilliant Pegasus, who also possesses one of the ancient Millenium items, the Millenium Eye. After losing a duel with Pegasus in the Shadow Realm, Pegasus steals Yugi's grandpa's soul and challanges him to compete in an upcoming tournament at Duelist Kingdom. The third and final episode shows Yugi and his friends setting out on a private cruise ship for the tournament, but Yugi has more than his grandpa's soul to worry about. He also has to deal with devious duelists out to ruin his deck.
This is a great family show, and coupled with the collectors cards makes a great diversion for young kids of all ages.
Yu-Gi-Oh follows the story of a young boy living in Japan who, by fate or bad luck, gets caught up in a game involving cards. These cards actually date from Ancient Eygpt and are infused with magic. Yugi, the main character, and his friends get caught up in this magic mainly because of the mistake of playing the card game.
This volum follows how they begin to get caught up in events over which they have no control.
Some of the characters do take time to get use to and can be a bit anoying. Then again this is the story of how the grow up through their experiences so if you can put up with them and get use to the idea you will find a cast of endearing characters who can become quite fun to watch.
I have to admit, I'd heard of this before and it did not interest me at all. I just saw it as a card game with a spin off seires. Then I actually watched it and by the end of the third episode I was hooked. The story takes time to get going but once it does I found myself wishing for the next one. It might not be to everyones taste but it certainly is a good all rounder.
Episode 1 sees Yugi facing Kaiba after Kaiba ripped up his Grandfather's Blue Eyes card (Very rare in other words).
Episode 2 sees Yugi against Pegasus. I wont ruin it for you.
Episode 3 sees Yugi and his friends Tea, Tristen and Joey going to Peguses's island to rescue Yugi's Grandfather.
I think Yu-Gi-Oh isnt dubbed too badly (Unlike Cardcaptors) and the animation is top notch. I wish though they would release more then one at a time. I ve had to import from America.
If you can wait long enough buy this. If you can't import.
