I picked this e-book up some time ago for the princely sum of £1. Originally presented in the form of a blog written by Steve Drewett, singer and guitarist with Harlow punk stalwarts 'The Newtown Neurotics', the book runs along separate timelines which document the final days of the band in 1988 and the run up to reunion dates that the band played in 2005.

Highly introspective the book mixes Steve's thoughts on many of life's more personal events, love, fatherhood and bereavement... oh and there's a band in there somewhere. The confidence struggles described as the band prepared for the 2005 gigs was something of a surprise, not being something that you would perhaps associate with a musician who on and off has spent 30 years plus playing to paying audiences.

This book was all the more enjoyable because I was at the majority of the gigs described within it's 'pages'. If you're a music fan, punk or otherwise you'll appreciate this book... and it's not as if you have to dig geep for it!

If you're in a band - read this. If you're not, you'll want to be after reading it. This could be the best quid you ever spent! Thank you Mr Drewett for a great insight into being a cult punk rock star. Highly recommended.

Steve Drewett takes us through the highs and lows of not just band life but LIFE in general with this honest and open account taken from his daily blogs. A down to earth and ordinary guy creating simplistic, relevant and immense tunes. This is how it's done. This IS what punk was all about once upon a time before it became fashionable:P You won't be disappointed with this read. If you're not a prolific reader like me it's great to take it onboard in small chunks exactly as the blog was written. What a wonderful insight into what it takes to make a band work.My advice is buy it now. You probably throw more money away on chocolate bars in a day than it costs to get this great read.

A collection of the blogs of Steve Drewett, founder of The (Newtown) Neurotics, Harlow's greatest band and one of the most endearing of punk-rock outfits. The blogs were written from 2001-06 and deal with the re-formation of the band and of the challenge's of life as a (part-time) musician. Many are deeply moving and always heartfelt. For less than a £1 this is ridiculous value... so download and enjoy - and even better, listen to the music they created all those years ago.
