Finally an insider who tells you that it is all right to like what you enjoy without feeling ignorant. The basic message is trust your instinct and don't be intimidated by an industry that wants to trade on mystique which is largely the basis for the high prices charged for a lot of wine. Lockspeiser is adamant that what matters is you the drinker and has built the book around this belief. It gives good, well rounded advice on everything that you are ever likely to want to know aboutwine. Every chapter concludes with a very helpful and simple section summarising what has been said under the heading 'the last gulp'. You can read it from start to finish or dip into it as you wish. Either way you should be able to stand up to the wine snob next time you encounter one or tell the waiter that the wine is corked and you want it replaced because you know that up to one in 15 bottles of wine can be affected by TCA.
This book is excellent! This book is easy to read and understand for those who aren't knowledgeable aboutwine but want to understand more. I was so impressed I bought copies to give as Christmas Gifts and the recipients of those books also liked it and have bought it as gifts for other people! Testament to a great book!
I read "Your wine questions answered" pre-launch. I'm in the wine trade myself and very often talk to customers that feel embarrassed about their level of wine knowledge. This book answers a lot of their questions in a very easy-to-read style. It's filled with interesting facts that make it a very enjoyable read also for people that possess more than average wine knowledge. Highly recommended.
I’ve just read this wonderful book and immediately bought three other copies for friends. A terrific read and the most accessible (and engaging) book I’ve ever readaboutwine. Demystifies so much of the jargon in a way that underlines the author’s expertise, but without being in any way patronising. And the fact that all the proceeds go to such a wonderful cause is more than the icing on this cake. I can’t recommend highly enough and what a great gift.
I received an advance copy of this great book and was taken with it straight away. It’s easy to read (bite-size chapters), really informative, packed full of interesting wine-facts and has taught me all kinds of things I didn’t already know aboutwine. On top of this it’s given me some great tips about buying and storing wine.
I received an advanced copy last week. I really enjoyed reading it and I think it's a brilliant book to read if you know less aboutwine than the average wine merchant. Great that 100% of all revenue goes towards building schools in Sierra Leone!
