Review
"If you're a cricket-mad parent and want to get your child as passionate about the game as you are, save yourself a lot of time and probably fruitless effort and instead let Tim de Lisle do the business for you. He and his book are much more likely to succeed." -- Tony Hodson, Sport, 12 October 2007
"This is the book the game has needed for far too long... Buy it for someone you want to infect." -- Rob Steen, Cricinfo.com, October 13, 2007
'A comprehensive introduction to cricket for young or new fans.'
-- Good Book Guide
'If you're a cricket-mad parent and want to get your child(boy or girl) as passionate about cricket as you are, save yourself a lot of time...and let Tim de Lisle do the business for you. He and his book are much more likely to suceed - trust us.' -- Sport (Main)
'Incomparable really, different planet stuff. It is comprehensive without being bewildering, colourful but not showy, confident but never esoteric. It is also superbly designed.' -- Wisden Cricketer
'This is the book the game has needed for far too long. It is also a priceless example of dumbing-up. Buy it for someone you want to infect.'
-- Cricinfo.com (October 2007)
'Time de Lisle's 'Young Wisden' is a cracking idea. A guide to cricket for kids - when they can wrestle is from their parents' grasp, that is. Stats, laws and dates are all in here, but so are celebrated sledges, roly-poly captains and wacky wicket keepers.' -- Time Out

I wish that Tim De Lisle would revise it - the continued development of 20/20 and the IPL would be well worth covering, also some more details on newer players that have come to prominence in the last few years. The technical detail can't be faulted though and is explained extremely well. Also includes some interesting stories about the history of the game. An excellent overview that conveys the author's love of the game. His enthusiasm is evident, and it's contagious to the reader. My boys love this book and refer to it often.
Easy for young readers to engage with and detailed enough for seasoned cricketers to learn from too.
