OMG I'M A BAD-A$$ ASSASSIAN (BUT NOT A MURDERER) BECAUSE I ONLY KILL BAD GUYS
Listen love - if you kill people - it's murder. If you kill people on behalf of the FBI/CIA it's State Sanctioned murder. I don't have a problem reading about you being an assassin but don't justify it. There's reasons for "due processes" and "innocent till proven guilty" and if you don't follow it then civilisation is a mess.
I recently read an YA/NA series called Project Five Fifteen - I despised the heroine, but the plot was amazing (particularly the first book). It was based on a bunch of teens who were trained from a young age to become Assassins. They had no family (plucked from orphanages), never experienced love, emotion or closeness. They were treated like sociopaths - they kill by order. No justification for it - their mission is to kill - not ponder why.
It was a chilling and much more believable. The author rendered them the kind of kids you'd expect you were brought up that way. Not silly, sassy, "I'm-so-cool-Miley-is-my-best-friend" teeny weeny wanna-0be Assassins. These guys performed the whole thing including Parkour. They author did her research!!
This was like Buffy combined Mean Girls. Another reviewer described it as New Moon combined Beautiful Disaster.
It's silly, stupid and unrealistic.
It follows loads of clichés, with he playboy, tall-dark-handsome-every-girl-wants-this-rich-kid hero who falls in love with a woman out to kill his dad. Seriously pass me a bucket.
You'll enjoy this, perhaps, if your 13.
Just the reviews on Goodreads - particularly the 1* reviews - so much entertainment (really funny) plus it gives an overview of how bad the book is
I'm usually not to keen on books written in this way, preferring it when the story is just from one characters point of view, but April Brookshire really captured the pain of the characters losses and inner turmoil. the never ending battle between whether to listen to your Hart or your head.
Anna's... job situation is definitely a twist changing a boring predictable romance into something more...
