I had this fantastic movie on DVD for some years and was happy to upgrade to Blu-ray, I have to say I am not disappointed with the transfer. Both the picture and sound are of excellent quality and well worth the money. The movie itself is a brilliant example of the type of movies made by Gene Wilder & Mel Brooks. It is as if you couldnt guess a spoof of the Frankenstein movie and is very funny. Although I am a fan of colourization I think it would be a crime to colourise this movie, black & white really does it justice. If you are a fan of Wilder & Brooks buy this movie, in fact buy this movie even if your not a fan I think you will love it.
The film, of course, is wonderful; still funny no matter how many times you see it. The picture quality on the blue ray is far better than the DVD, though it's not as crisp as with some restorations, even of black and white films decades older than this, which is why I've dropped a star.
Love it, because like all of Mel Brooks's films it is politcally incorrect and wouldn't be shown today. A group would appear from under a stone claiming this is anti-monster film and an infringment of its inhuman rights and Marty Feldmans portrayal of a hunchback was an insult to people with deformities.
