Vernon Coleman's Country Doctor books are superb and easy reading.
I hope he continues to write more.
They are books you don't get tired of reading and his characters are superb. even though his Wife is the ultimate paragon of virtue.
I have all the set on my kindle and my I Pad

I've read now, each one of the Bilbury books. Every one was a sheer delight. From the first page of the first book the characters and stories came to life. Highly recommended.

For me this was one of those books I like to have at the bedside in case of a sleepless night: utterly undemanding, total escapism, nice and calming to hopefully send you to sleep! Lovers of the series will of course enjoy this too, though it is composed of stories rather than being a novel (actually in this series I think there isn't a lot of difference). The stories are very uneven, some really made me laugh out loud, others seemed mere fillers. But I am afraid I was as usual irritated by the poor quality of Coleman's writing...which in the end prevented me from going to sleep!

I've read all the Bilbury series and thoroughly enjoyed them. Now branching out in to Vernon's other works and, hopefully, his other hundred or so books should keep me going for a while? Just reading "Hope your penis shrivels up" which is extremely amusing and quite a bit outside the Bilbury series. Keep it up, Vernon, as you might recommend in the aforementioned book!

I hope it isn`t ,but fear this is the last book of the young country doctor. These books are on a par with James Heriot which is the highest compliment I can pay the author. I have read the series on my kindle, which I know the author does`t approve of ( I am reading his diaries at the moment ), and to pay less than £2 a book is an absolute bargain.

Another great read. This author is so descriptive that you feel you know the characters and the devon countryside very well. It is as good as going on holiday and meeting old friends all for the cost of a book. Very good value for money I am sure you will agree.
