I'm pretty new to The Pierces music having come across them listening to BBC Radio 2. You'll Be Mine, the title track to the band's recently released EP is just what the doctor ordered after a long British Winter. Excellent start to Spring and the promise of Summer, sitting in the garden listening to The Pierces. Try it. Buy it.

1. You'll Be Mine - This song opens the EP with a really poppy sound, which wasn't as common on the girl's previous albums, which were more towards folk rock. The vocals on this song are really catchy. I wasn't sure about this song at first, but after a few listens it started to grow on me. 7/10

2. Piece of You - This song starts with Catherine's vocals and then the piano kicks in, followed shortly by acoustic guitars and Allison's vocals. I really like the atmosphere of this song and I think it would have made a perfect single as it is mainstream enough for radio. 8/10

3. Me and Him - This song was the only one on the EP written by Allison Pierce (the other three were written by Catherine). I also find it to be the most emotional song on the EP. It starts with acoustic guitars and has highly emotional lyrics by Allison. I do find this to be the weakest point on the album, though. - 6/10

4. You'll Be Mine [Live Acoustic] - This song really shows how good The Pierces are live. This was recorded in a studio session in 2010 and performances of Love You More and We Are Stars can be found on The Pierces' official YouTube channel. There is not much to say about the song itself as it is the same as track 1, but I actually prefer this version over the studio one. - 8/10

I find this EP as a whole to be much stronger than the girl's previous on Love You More. It is also their first single to chart (Number 46 on the UK Singles Chart). If the whole of the album You & I sounds like this EP; it will be much better than their previous two albums, Light of the Moon and Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge, although I prefer their self-titled debut over both of those, because it has that more rock sound to it, as opposed to the pop of the last few releases. Overall Rating - 29/40

If proof were ever needed that perseverance is a virtue, then may I present the evidence for the defence m'lud. To wit, The Pierces. Even if does mean I have to say something vaguely positive about Coldplay whose bass player produced the lead track on this splendid EP.

The Alabama-based sister duo The Pierces, have already released three albums. Not that anyone outside Alabama-based sister duo The Pierces noticed. But here they are, slightly buffed up for radio play, dripping with melodies, seventies west coast rock and shimmering songs.

It's the kind of thing you'd have found on Asylum back in the day, the love child of Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt, albeit conceived to the Buckingham Nicks LP. It's a wee bit folk, a wee bit pop, and just dripping with deliciousness.

If there is any justice in the world, this will be A-listed on Radio 2, and they will receive the ultimate accolade of appearing on Later. A sentence that saddens me more than you can possibly imagine. Elsewhere, they wheel in some synths for 'Piece Of You', go a bit country pop for 'Me And Him', then prove they can do it for real with a live acoustic reading of 'You'll Be mIne'. Just delicious.

Great songs from 2 really talented Sisters. More music should be like this instead of the crap polluting the charts week after week! Why haven't they reached number 1?
