Her book covers: how to craft your titles, do research on keywords, select keywords for tags and all the tips and inspiration you need to be a success with you tube, camera and filming tips. She shows examples of people who have been successful on You Tube, even including people in the natural hair niche like Naputural85.
This book is different, however, because: her heart is in it, she shares how and what keeps her motivated and her passion oozes off the page for you to be successful too. I liked that.
How many people do you know who genuinely wants you to succeed even if it means you may just surpass them? That is what I take away from her book is her humility and spirit of "sharing" all that she knows. She describes in a simple way with simple rules how to use you tube. What more can you ask? It's a quick but comprehensive read in simple language with easy instructions.
That all said, I have only one criticism(meant with love) of the book: Some of it was repetitious. I think this happened because she is so passionate about the opportunity that she infused her passion for you to use this tool in each chapter.
It's not a major problem or issue; but it caused me to quickly gloss through chapters because I didn't want to read some of the same things.
Therefore my suggestion to counteract this would be:
have chapters dedicated to the following subjects: motivation, inspiration, empowerment.
However, continue to use the format of your chronological history and improvements on you tube: but in those chapters stick to lessons learned and practical tips and suggestions.
In any case, this book is a beginner youtuber must have especially if they want their videos to rank high on you tube and on search engines.
I hope another advanced issue for this book comes out for experienced vloggers showing how to integrate you tube with other social media aps. (instagram, linkedin, twitter, blogs, tumblr)
I do not understand how this book has so many positive ratings. I am guessing the author just used her youtube channel and asked her subscribers to leave good ratings.
There IS some good info in the book, but even calling it a "book" is a stretch. They REALLY spread this out to make it qualify as a printed book. The font is huge and the content covers the same ground over and over and over. The writing is really bad, it is T H E worst edited book I have ever read of any genre. Chock full of spelling and grammar errors.
This is an actual sentence from the book (pg 63):
"I also participated in my first you to challenge where everything all day in the month of July I created a video is one of those videos was something new it was a great experience to really get me thinking of what to say what to do each day."
W T F?
It's SO padded. There is literally a 15 sentence chapter. A 16 sentence chapter. And an 18 sentence chapter.
Again, there is a little good info here, but certainly not enough to warrant a book.
Here is all that this really teaches:
-Make clean professional looking videos.
-Make them entertaining.
-Make connections with your viewers and keep track of how to connect with them in the future.
-Use keywords in your titles and descriptions.
-Make consistent videos and have content that is on point with your message.
-Try to keep your videos under 5 minutes.
Most of the rest of this book is the author talking about herself ad nauseam and pitching her own youtube channel and products.
I applaud this woman for making something out of nothing and doing well for herself. And for wanting to share with others. But man.... the useful parts of this book could be boiled down to one page.
The rest of it is just a bunch of naval gazing.
