I was only a few chapters in and I realised that I already loved the characters, all of them, I could picture their lives and I was totally submerged in the goings on Stanton Langley. This book made me laugh and cry but not in a sad way, I hate books which make me cry but these were tears because I was so happy for the characters. I loved Lily's story most of all and Patsy was just wonderful. I'm going to give away plot details if I say more so I'll stop now.
This was a perfect chick lit (yet not too fluffy) book and I would recommend it if like me you have loved the likes of Sophie Kinsella but have grown out of how silly some of her characters are. I feel this book is slightly more mature yet still fun and enjoyable.
I've bought everyone of her books right back to Fast Friends which, if you haven't read, is a must read, I vary my reading between all types of genres including thrillers and self published works. More recently, I've switched to a Kindle and have become an even bigger bookworm.
I always order Jill's books as soon as the link becomes available and her January release dates are like a bonus Christmas day as I wake to the download having happened overnight. Sorry, this is my review.
As usual, Jill presents us with strong, independent characters and it's easy to fall for them at once. The tale twists and turns and there is an abundance of lovely humour and romantic near misses. You and Me, Always is a tale of friendship that goes above and beyond, No time is spent referring to designer brands or unending bank accounts, These are people that we would love to know and to have in our lives, For once, I didn't cry but I did inhale this book in 3 sessions. Another classic!
You and me, always is a great read and I read this too quick! The books main character is Lilly, who has just read a letter from her mum on her 25th birthday, this is the last letter for Lilly who has received one on every birthday. The letter was written by her mum before she died leaving Lilly in the capable hands of Coral and Nick. From here you get to know Coral, Patsy and Dan as if they were your friends. The story has highs and lows as Lilly searches for her mums first real love to find out more about her mum. This book has everything in it including a famous actor! The story does have a few twists and turns but ends how you wanted it to at the very beginning.
The book begins on Lily’s twenty-fifth birthday with her opening the final letter left by her mother who died when Lily was just eight years old. Lily’s mother had left a stack of letters, one for each birthday and in this final letter Lily discovers the name of her father and so begins a journey to find him and answers.
A little romance is brought to the village when the gorgeous Hollywood movie star, Eddie, hides out in the village for a while.
Once I started reading I couldn’t stop and read it within two days. It is packed full of love and romance which had me laughing and crying and all the feelings in between.
MoMo’s Book Diary truly enjoyed You and Me, Always and recommends it as a perfect 5 star summer read.
