I was fortunate enough to once have lunch with the author of this book and so decided to read this, her first and possibly only publication. Those of us of an age to have "lived" through the Northern Ireland "troubles" will remember the headlines but this book opened up a whole new perspective for me and how living in Derry proved to be a constant danger from both locals and the British army in what must have seemed like a never ending hell. No fun for a young girl traversing life into her teenage years.
A very thought provoking and touching story. Well done Caroline for telling it.

This is a great read and will have you asking for more. A true story that will inspire all to live life to the full and "run on". This story is the story of many Irish families Caroline Owens has written a book of joy, sadness, fear, hope, war, faith, insight. Strength weakness and love. People in 1970"s Derry will recognise this as a young girls memories of troubled times. Buy it now and enjoy the journey. You will want more. Go on give us a second helping Caroline ..

Brrrrrilliant read. I loved it from start to finish. :)) The opening chapter with young Caroline heading to the shop for "Mammy" and the adventure that it brings really grabs you and makes you want to carry on.

Absolutely loved the book, it was very funny and sad. Caroline You definately should have been in that `O` Level class. Your an excellent writer so you need to continue your story. Your an inspiration and the only thing I`m particularly sad about now, is that Your Mami & Dadai are not around to share in your success. the book leaves me thinking; "life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but rather learning how to dance in the rain" xxxx

This book is a beautifully illustrative journey of a vulnerable, inquisative young girl growing up through 'the troubles', both at home and in Northern Ireland. Caroline's journey from start to finished had me hooked, I struggled to put it down, as I shared in her search for meaning. My only criticism would be that it finished...I WANT MORE!!!
