Format: Paperback
While the subtitle of this book addresses manual therapists, it presents a very useful and interesting approach for yoga teachers and practitioners, too. Speaking from that perspective, I'd say there is no other book with a more detailed and concise guide to yoga practice in the Iyengar tradition. The big bonus, however, are the so-called "basic exercises" that are inspired by yoga positions but are not as demanding. Therefore, they can be introduced in courses with older persons, beginners and people with physical limitations, either leading towards classic asanas or as exercises in their own right. I'm quite impressed with the wealth and practicality of the material offered.

Format: Paperback
This is an important book for manual and physical therapists looking to expand their clinical repertoire of therapeutic exercise. For several decades therapeutic exercises have been dominated by a structural-orthopedic model, one that has only limited efficacy. It is good to see a completely different therapeutic approach which is based on eastern traditions of wellness and movement. This book is an essential guide for therapists looking to work with alternative models of health care.

Format: Paperback
Quite an impressive book with lots of precise instructions and photos. It contains a wide variety of basic exercises with different degrees of difficulty which can be used as a basis for learning (or teaching) traditional yoga postures. So, while the book is ostensibly geared towards manual therapists, as a yoga teacher, I find it very useful, too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Complex resource 12 Feb. 2012
By saraswati - Published on Amazon.com

Though a complex and in depth resource, it would be even harder for mainstream yoga teachers to grasp all the terminology. Am sure this would be directed towards the medical professional.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best book I've ever had on therapeutic yoga 4 May 2016
By Cherry Jeffs - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I can't disagree more with the first reviewer. This is the best book I've ever had on therapeutic yoga. I have helped myself and so many of my students by using the exercises in it. It is my go-to resource! The exercises are perfectly intelligible to any reasonably experienced yoga teacher or intermediate-level students. None of the poses are difficult to do and many of them are ideal as warm-up exercises for a regular yoga practice or class.
