With full surround sound and Morocco's Atlas Mountains as a stunning backdrop, celebrated yoga teacher Claire Missingham has created the first UK-produced Vinyasa Yoga DVD. Claire's teaching integrates alignment, flow and spirituality from the Krishnamacharaya yoga lineage. The practice on this DVD is for people who are experienced in yoga but with a beginners section of the more basic sequences in the main class, and dedicated section on modifying your practice, offers a way into Vinyasa Flow yoga for those who may be new to this form. This DVD has been created to give you a tool with which to enjoy yoga everyday and deepen your practice over time. The DVD features a full length (70 min.) vinyasa flow yoga class, with matrix scene selection for you to choose your own practice. It also has selections from the main class, with specific additional sequences to make up a 30 min invigorating morning practice; a calming evening practice (30 mins) to release tension for a restful sleep; a beginners practice, for people new to Vinyasa Yoga; a guide to modifying your practice, to suit differing flexibility; an interview with Claire Missingham to guide you and introduce you to the richness and history of Vinyasa Yoga; a 24-page booklet with guidance, tips and photographs; and, an authentic Moroccan atmosphere and music recorded in full 5.1 surround sound featuring Cheb I Sabbah, Neel Dhorajiwala, Amritkripa & Ann Malone
Missingham is a wonderfully creative vinyasa-ite... Her instruction is fairly minimal but clear... and her modelling is impressive, displaying both strength and flexibility. This is a well-rounded vinyasa program, with material that will suit both beginning and intermediate students --Yoga Journal USA --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

On the plus side, this dvd is really informative and there is also an instruction book included which is not present in other yoga dvds. She is a calm and fascinating instructor to watch, mainly because of the postures she can get herself into.
The postures are a challenge to say the least, so I would suggest that the more advanced pratitioner would really enjoy it. Not many dvds allow for the more advanced challenges in yoga. Flowing through postures is lovely to do and you can really feel that your body and mind are working together, especially as there are so many balancing postures.
The music is calm and serene to work to and on the whole this is one of the best yoga dvd's I have tried.
On the negative side though, this dvd does not really specify the intensity of it. I would not say I was a beginner but due to back problems the postures demonstrated are too much for me and I am struggling to keep up. I have not looked at the beginners part of the dvd but, for the money it is, I would suggest beginners look elsewhere first and master the principles of yoga.
Overall, it is worth the money for those who have the ability to mould their body quite comfortably into more extreme and challenging postures.
The Vinyasa flow yoga as per Claire Missingham is very similar to Shiva Rea. That is, there is no respite and no time to get fully into the asanas, even when you get used to the routine. She hardly gives any instructions, but this is because there is no time to do so! She goes into warrior to triangle to half-moon in seconds!
I agree with other reviews that the music and filming are excellent and Claire is very graceful. The sequencing is very original and the poses definitely interesting.
This is not a DVD for beginners. It will appeal to those who are not interested in taking the time to get fully into the asanas and perfecting each pose.
