I cycled once around the Irish coastline with this tent, often wild camping, but also stayed in campsites. Some of the nights were very windy and wet, but I always stayed 100% dry. I stayed very close to the sea all the time, sometimes camping right beside it, so some nights were indeed rather rough. One night at the edge of a cliff near the point of a peninsula was particularly windy. In fact, I could hardly sleep because I was afraid the wind would just blow the tent apart and I would suddenly lie there unprotected. But the tent survived even that night; it just looked a bit crooked in the morning.
After 50 days of using it every night, many of them camping in the wild, it is still in great condition.
In its green colour it blended in very well with any green fields or forests, making it perfect if I wanted to stay undiscovered when wild camping. It is quite small (really only for one person) but that also meant it was easy to find wild camping spots as you don't need much space for it. It packs up neatly and easily fitted into my pannier bag. It is lightweight making it great for a cycling or backpacking trip. Setting it up and taking it down is very quick, too.
All in all, it was an excellent choice and I would warmly recommend this tent to anyone!!
- The tent is great value for money. Considering the cost of the tent, you get a pretty good deal.
- It is a very lightweight, compact tent. It fits quite comfortably in my 30L rucksack.
- Simple to set up and take down (a matter of minutes).
- The washed out olive-green colour means that you don't stick out like a sore thumb.
- Good room inside the tent with room to roll over (Im 5ft 7)
- Mesh inner tent means you can sleep under starlit sky in the summer without having to use the fly sheet.
- Seams are cheap, stitching not great, fragile seams. Look after the tent and you might make it last, if you start ripping it about trying to force things, it may well rip.
- Poles are cheap quality, could snap easily if forced. Again, look after them and you should be able to make them last.
Hope the review is helpful. If you want to watch a video review of this tent then type in "Yellowstone Matterhorn one man tent" on YouTube and the video by " TA Outdoors" gives a good review.
Size wise, I removed the pole from the bag and stowed it away properly (tighter) and found it to be smaller than they make out. I reckon I reduced the size of the pack by around 20% (excl pole)
I've not tested the waterproofing, however the coverage of the top sheet is 100% and the groundsheet lip is sufficient.

It was the first time I've ever camped, or setup a tent. I got it right the first time. Although using my shoe to stomp the poles into the ground bent some, this is to be expected. Read morePublished 27 days ago by Eric
