The rechargable wireless dehumidifing egg can reduce the humidity where used. This reusable unit is ideal for small areas around the home and in other places like caravans, boats etc and can remove up to 120g of moisture per use. No electric power is needed during use but does require to be regenerated in a microwave when full which is done within 10 minutes. The indicator on the side of the cradle tells you when full, pink when wet and blue when dry.
A dehumidifier takes moisture from the air lowering the humidity. It does this bycondensing water onto a cold surface like an ice cold drink on a warm day, the water condenses on the outside.

This egg comes into its own if you have an isolated moisture problem in a confined space, like in a corner cupboard, where it just can't get sufficient airflow for moisture to be prevented. That's exactly the location I'm using mine and I'm sure it is helping. Roughly after 2 weeks I find the indicator changes colour meaning it has absorbed as much water as it can, so I put it in the microwave for 10 minutes and the cycle starts again. If that's the kind of moisture problem you're trying to avoid then I would recommend this product.
I have successfully reactivated it by placing it in the microwave for 5 mins. It is attractive to look at and easy to use but if you need a bigger area dehumidified I think you need to buy a dozen eggs!
After some use, I really think some peoples expectations are very unreasonable for what it is. It's not all that small (about 2x the size of a hens egg), the plastic base IS a bit cheap feeling but it works (its £6!!!). Maybe this isn't obvious to some, but a small pile of silica gel crystals is NOT going to dehumidify a whole room or a wet bathroom - you need to invest in a proper dehumidifier. Then there's the complaints that when the ceramic egg comes out the microwave on a 10 minute blast, it's hot (for those free of common sense, pick it up with an oven glove or tea-towel, then let it cool on a plate).
What it does, is help absorb moisture from small spaces - I have mine on a bay window to keep the condensation off the windows and my blinds free of mould. I might get one for a bedroom window too. I still move my de-humidifier from room to room to keep moisture down and my heating efficient(almost all old properties need to be de-humidified frequently) but these are great for small problem areas.
I can address a few points that other reviewers have brought up. Firstly, when you first open the product from the packaging the dehumidifiying egg is in a sealed plastic bag but the base with the indicator pannels on is not. This means that the pannels may have detected moisture while in storage and turned pink. The egg does not need to be reactivated in the microwave yet, just put the egg onto the holder and it will draw the moisture out of the pannels within an hour or so and they will change back to blue.
Secondly, with regards to re-activation, the instrutions in the pack do state to up-end the egg and remove the plug from the base and placing upside down in a CERAMIC mug.(even a microwave safe plastic bowl/jug will melt when in contact with something that is extreamely hot) Also please note that the instuctions are based on a 600 Watt microwave at HALF power. If your machine is more than 600W ensure that you adjust the power setting to less than half. It should be microwaved for a maximum of ten minutes. Leave it a good while to cool down before you place back on the base and the egg will then dry out the indicator strips and turn them back to blue again.
I am happy with this product and will be buying more for other areas of my home.

We bought 2 of these, both great. Does exactly as described.Published 7 months ago by NotJustAnotherMum
Not particularly functional. The microwaving is not very practical either. Might work for closets, wardrobes or very small spaces, but will not make any difference to a room.Published 10 months ago by LF
