Posthumous releases can leave the listener fearful for the worst but not in this case.

Following up 'Don't Worry About Me', Joey's final work has been polished and released for our enjoyment. Clearly a lot of love and care has gone into this because pretty much all of the tracks here are worthy of a formal album release.

The chance to hear Joey's voice one last time is priceless and reminds us of what a great talent we have lost.

I would recommend this to any Ramones fan - don't expect the Ramones sound, but enjoy that great voice.

Of course it's sad that he's not around and it is easy to be cynical about an album that arrives 11 years after.
Personally, I enjoy music where as soon as a song finishes, you want to hear it again. That was what was great about the Ramones
and this album has it too.

"Party Line", "Waiting for that Railroad", "I couldn't sleep" and "Rock and Roll is the answer" are delightful songs to listen to over and over and over again.

Maybe you don't approve. Do I care?

Joey Ramone was and is still a legend whose contribution and influence on the shape of music during the latter part of the 20th century and which has continued into the new millennium, was absolutely immense, arguably greater than any other musician ever. When he sadly died in 2001 he left an eclectic collection of unreleased numbers in various stages of completion and recording, most of which offers an intriguing glimpse into his final years when he had moved himself further from the public eye due to his illness. Some of these appeared on his first posthumous album "Don't Worry About Me" and on this second posthumous album "Ya Know?" more tracks are released which have been re-recorded by a handful of Joey's friends and collaborators such as Joan Jett, the E Street Band's Stevie Van Zandt and Plasmatics guitarist Richie Stotts. And the result is a deeply moving and mesmeric reminder of the towering talent of this unique innovative musician.

Every track is memorable with personal standouts "New York City", "I Couldn't Sleep", "Eyes Of Green", a great bluesy rock number, "Party Line", and "Life's A Gas", with the top accolade going to "Waiting For The Railroad".

This album which is named after the phrase that ended most of his sentences "Ya Know?" is a delightful and at the same time poignant reminder of a truly talented bloke. Highly recommended.

Of course we miss the Ramones! But this is pure Joey, it does not have Johnny Ramone's guitar attack or the classic Ramones rhythm... and it is not meant to. It feels like more mainstream rock n roll, the type we all knew Joey loved. The songs carry certain sadness or sentimentalism that is pure Joey feeling man... it's easy to be skeptical with posthumous records but Joey's brother did a stelar job here... if theres more songs in the can i'd say keep em coming! Ill be the first to buy them and listen to the voice of punk rock... or rock itself.

let the music play!

YA KNOW? Joey Ramone yes the voice of the R.A.M.O.N.E.S. the band that spawned a few million t shirts mainly to people who haven't realised they heard the band or Joey solo doing say 'its a wonderful world' ... YA KNOW? is the kind of special features to his first. BUT a fine album worth your money, time & repeated listening. This maybe if this is your 1st "Romone[s]'purchase a contrary way to start here & work back through their catalogue but that t shirt is the stamp mark of contrary Rock 'n' Roll [is the answer] the 1st track. Hey Ho, Ya Know?!
