The VGA end is quite heavy and as such it can come loose from its own weight, has to be re-inserted somewhat often. Otherwise its a good problem and provides good picture and sound

1. Connects Xbox 360 to pc monitor for a great picture.
2. Has got the red and white audio cable and a socket for attaching an optical cable (although it does not show this on the box I can confirm it has it) either of which can be connected to an amp/surround sound etc.
3. included is vga converter (used to connect the male cable from this cable to the vga cable from your monitor)
4. included a audio converter (not sure what its called as i wont use this one as using optical) with red/white convert to single male bit?

I bought this official microsoft cable to replace a cheeper unofficial one that bought for a few pounds and didnt come with vga converter. The cable shielding had come loose showing wires and the optical socket was always a loose fitting and had to be selotaped to a position to keep the audio on. This more expensive but far superior cable is solid and well worth the extra money. The optical socket clicks in and does not move at all the cable itself is well built and sure will last longer than the xbox.

The cable is sold through a company called Indigo Starfish (Jersey) via Amazon and I had no problems what so ever. I was not in any rush for the item but delivery was pretty quick as it came from Jersey.

So highly reccomend this cable over any others hope this review helps.

I was stumped as to whether to buy the VGA cables or the component cables. I stumped for VGA as my HDTV only has 1 component connection and my Wii is using it. I'd heard a lot about washed out colours on VGA, but figured no matter what it will look WAY bettwer than the composite that the Core system comes with.

Arrived today and plugged it in. It defaulted to 640x480 and looked washed out. I set the resolution to the native resolution of the TV (1368x764) and it looked washed out. HOWEVER, Playing with brightness and contrast got me an excellent image. Games look awesome, DVDs look stunning (upscaled to the full TV resolution (unlike the 574p using component). I havent been able to compare Component vs VGA on my TV, but once set up right the image is excellent via VGA.

As another reviewer noted this does come with a Phono to stero jack adapter and a VGA converter if your monitor only has a cable coming out and not a VGA port.

Off to play GoW........

HD gaming on a budget!

I wanted a 360 but was a bit concerned about having to pay for a new TV as well. Then I heard I could get a lead to connect my 360 to my monitor and wouldn't need to buy a new TV. So I now have the 360, the lead and am enjoying HD gaming for a very reasonable price!

(Note you need to connect the 2 din plugs into an amplifier to get sound unless your monitor has sound capablity.)

Other leads are available for less cash, but there may be questions over the quality of 3rd party leads. This is not a digital signal, so good shielding is essential and this is often where cheap leads fall down.

I heartily reccommend this lead for connecting your 360 to your PC monitor!

AWFUL FOR HIGH DEF TV

This plugs into your analogue pc connection on a HDTV screen.

As it is not digital you get a terrible grey wash over the colours and although anti aliasing etc is still good, the comaprison between the component and this is a no brainer.

I purchased this to free up my component input but has turned out to be a waste of money.

I still cannot understand why Microsoft have not released a DVI or HDMI cable for the console which utilises the ports that are seldom used at the moment.

Stay clear if you want it for HDTV.

This cable allows you to connect your xbox 360 to any screen or monitor with a vga connection, these are also called d-sub 15 connections. Set up is easy, plug one end into xbox and the vga into your monitor. Package includes gender adapter so it should fit either way. The sound is provided by the 2 coloured wires. Also provided is a small adapter so the sound is going through a 3mm jack (normal earphone size) so can be easily connected to some external speakers or the monitor.
Packaging was good but took a while to open. Picture quality was inmproved compared to my old tv setup.

The vga cable does exactly as advertised, allowing visual (and if your monitor is able audio) through your computer monitor rather than a tv. Obviously the advantages of having a cheaper, higher resoloution screen are obvious, and having the ability to plug in bigger external speakers is a plus!

To be fair, there are cheaper alternatives on the market, but if you're like me and you want a quality image (which is the surley the point of getting one of these) then I'm happy to pay that bit extra.
