We bought this purely as a media player for holiday on the plane and in the hotels. Has hdmi and av out.
It plays movies fine - I've tried ripped dvd's re-coded to 800x480 and I've tried tv recordings straight of the media center - both play well.
Down side may be the battery life, I've yet to find out if it can last for two films!
Used it for a quick internet and it seems ok.
My one had a missing screw holding the cover - I later found that the screw had sheered of I guess when it was put together, got a discount so no problem there.
The product was devlived quickly, however it came with lots of serious problems. Firstly it was heavier than I thought, which perhaps was my falut for not testing the weight. The battery life was really short. Less that 2 hours. The screen was so unreasponsive you could hardly work it. The display was really strange as well when you went on the internet, and you could not change the settings. In comparrison with an itouch, which is so easy to use.
I just got so frustated with everything about it, that I handed it back and bought a net book PC which although twice the price is fantastic.
The company were very good regarding a refund.
A1CS Ltd were very quick to deliver it, and it looks and feels really nice, albeit a touch heavier than anticipated.
1. Email/Gmail/Web/Kindle/MoviePlayer apps all work very well. Not really played with the other apps so can't comment on them.
2. Battery life is ok. Haven't pushed it to the limit, but get to 50% after 3 hours of light use.
3. Touch screen is pretty responsive, particularly the keyboard.
1. Wifi isn't brilliant - the signal drops if the device is more than about 20 feet from the access point.
2. Updates are difficult to find. There is no official website to go to. In an attempt to get better wifi (the web suggests that it's the software...) I managed to upgrade to a later version of Android 2.1. There is a Froyo pack but it looks experimental so I'm too scared to try it. There may be a Honeycomb release for it later in the year, so I will probably wait for that and take the plunge.
Soon got used to action of the touchscreen, slightly different compared to a mobile phone.
Could not download free books on the Aldiko reader but installing the Kindle app proved a better alternative.
Only downside is the battery life, but at only a third of the price of an i-pad cant really complain.
I would definitely recommend this product as a first start into the Android tablet market.
