The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class, in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

Well anyway I've had my little rant and the X-Men: Days of Future Past is a great edition to the X-Men series and the 4K is just beautiful, and well worth upgrading..
The film works much better without them. The Rogue content is tiny and she was as useless as ever, it was more a Magneto scene than anything.
I was hoping for some scenes to maybe address the return of Charles and Wolverines claws as "The Wolverine" certainly left you expecting some explanation but it never really arrives.
The cut was interesting to watch and certainly doesn't spoil the film, it just doesn't add anything.
Set partly in a dystopian future where mutants are nearly hunted to extinction, we get to witness our hero's getting slaughtered by the Sentinels and their backs really are up against the wall.
Step back into the past and modern day Wolverine is sent back in time, neatly tying in the two time periods and disparate casts (those from X-Men First Class, and the original cast).
The story is well constructed, funny at times and at others taught and very dramatic. James McAvoy (Professor X) and Michael Fassbender (Magneto) stand up well in close proximity to their counterparts Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, and the rest of the cast perform equally well.
Quicksilver however is the stand-out mutant here and one scene in particular really highlights how cool his powers are. Just a shame he is only in a small fraction of the film.
This is the Rogue Cut, and I have to say I'm not convinced that by removing her scenes from the theatrical release they made the film any worse, that said it's nice to have the full movie and good to see rogue is still around (she is after all one of the iconic x-men).
