This book started off really well, the story hooked me from the very start but got a bit dull in a few places towards the end.

It is about a young woman called Wynnie, about 27 or 28, who is starting to see that her life is going nowhere despite having obeyed and followed all the rules, she did well in school, studied hard, got good grades, never got into touble, was good to her parents, sisters and elders, went to college, got a degre, went back to college and got a masters, is a qualified teacher, and so on. But, despite all this, she does not have the life she expected for herself and feels like she is never going to get it.

Added to the "loser" complex she is developing, she is still totally, head over heels, in love with Oliver Reeves, the cool guy everybody drooled over back in High School, the same old story of "girls want to date him and boys want to be him, or his best friend. But because she was one of the school dorks in High School and Oliver was a God she could not talk to him or have any sort of contact with him.

Wynnie finds out a long hidden, and not talked about, family secret about her great grandmother when she is clearing out her grandmother's house after she died. This gets her thinking about her own loser life she is living and starts to ask questions in an attempt to find out the truth.

As luck would have it Oliver Reeves comes back into her life at this time as he gets a job in the same bar where she has been working for the last few years, I didn't see that coming, nor did Wynnie as she acts all shy and unsure of herself when he tries to talk to her and be friendly.

I wasn't sure after reading the first few chapters if i was going to enjoy this, But as soon as the story developed and the main character Wynn started off on a journey of discovery not only about her families past, but a journey of self discovery i couldn't put if down and wanted to read on to learn more.

I don't like to go into the story when i review a book, But all i will say is the last few chapters are really enjoyable as all the un-answered question's are finally revealed, The family secret from a previous generation, that they all knew nothing about, Seems to have made the family stronger than ever. Emily Hemmer the author kept me guessing throughout the book, Great read. So wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I found this book really tiring. And not very plausible. Overall not my favourite book but I read it to the end. And atleast it had a happy ending. But a lot of it was strung together, the plot was quite flimsy.

This was such a lovely book. Essentially about the need to dream (and act on those dreams), and love, for our families and our other halves. A search for Wynn's maternal
great-grandmother starts with a relationship with Oliver and then the discovery of the real reason Lola left her daughter. Through it all is self discovery. Worth a read.

Beautiful love story of the past entwined with the future however not all love stories have a happy ending. This isn't just between boy and girl but a mother's love

It didn't feel like the longest book but I enjoyed it and identified with the character Wyn. Generally a feel good book about learning to be an adult with a bit of romance thrown in.
