This does not play on British DVD players as it is American. Had a very disappointed boy on Christmas Day. Unfortunately this was not made clear in the information

HASH(0x8e8f4f54) out of 5 stars The Home Town Hero vs. "A Paul Heyman Guy" 24 Sept. 2012
By D.P. - Published on Amazon.com
A couple of notes here in that WWE started to show their support for the fight against cancer here by having the middle rope pink along with John Cena having a special pink colored "Rise Above Cancer" merchandise. Also with Jerry Lawler recovering from his heart attack earlier in the week, J.B.L. returned to commentary alongside Michael Cole for the show.

Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara vs. Cody Rhodes - With Miz being caught in the middle of Cody Rhodes' issues with Cara & Mysterio over their mask, we got a fatal four way match for the title. As usual with these type of matches, it was filled with various highlights like it being a glorified tag match at times with Miz & Cody working together while Cara & Mysterio did the same, Cody & Miz trying to out do the other, Cody Rhodes actually getting some fan support, Mysterio & Cara facing off for the first time ever, and the match ending with a third masked man. Great opening match full of non-stop action.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. Kane & Daniel Bryan - Before the match started, pay attention of J.B.L. as he had a funny time towards Kane's old adversary in Pete Rose. Both teams traded momentum with Kofi & Truth working together while Kane & Bryan were working their singles offense including the way Bryan was able to get the No Lock on Kofi at one point. It backfired when Kane & Bryan attempted to work together only to result in a shoving match before hugging it out before there was a moment where it looked like Bryan was trying to save Kane only for him to take a shot at Kane himself that had a result that he didn't plan on or expect. The match was average but more about continuing the "anger management" storyline between the two.

WWE United States Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. Zack Ryder - Ryder got the title shot from winning the pre-show battle royal. Cesaro was dominate from the start, with Aksana posing in different positions all over ringside, over Ryder including one move where he tossed Ryder up in the air only to catch in with an uppercut forearm on the way down. Ryder was able to gain some control towards the end of the match but it was overall a dominate showcase for Cesaro.

Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler - Both men traded momentum early on with both men knowing each other so well that they had the others offense such as Orton able to counter Dolph's fameasser into a powerbomb while Dolph used Orton's old grounded headlock but bridged his body in order to add extra pressure before Orton took a page out of his father's playbook with a top rope superplex. Orton went for his hanging DDT with Dolph able to counter forcing Orton to take it to the outside where Orton was able to hit it but hurt himself in the process before Dolph came back with a counter to the RKO & Orton countering Dolph's own sleeper as well. This was a very competitive match between both men that resulting in the fans showing support for both men throughout the match.

Divas Champion Layla vs. Eve - Kaitlyn was attacked earlier in the night causing SmackDown General Manager Booker T giving his assistant Eve the title shot. Eve went for a headlock take down early only for Layla to counter into head scissors before Eve was able to escape only to still be taken down with an armdrag. Layla tried to show some sportsmanship like Eve had been showing her & Kaitlyn for the past few weeks only for Eve to aggressively attack her including ramming her into the apron twice targeting the ribs followed up with a body scissors that did come into effect later on with Layla attempted a springboard kick only to land on her ribs. This was one of the better divas matches in recent months.

World Champion Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio - Booker T came out before the match to announce that Sheamus' Brouge Kick was no longer banned with Sheamus responding to that by knocking out David Otunga with the kick. Both men battled with Del Rio giving headbutts & kicks while Sheamus gave a neckbreaker & shoulder block after Del Rio went through the ropes & landed back first on the floor but Rio targeted Sheamus' arm using the ringpost & various armbars including a full body one while he was hanging from the top rope. Sheamus fought back beating on Rio's chest & countering Rio's attempts at the cross armbreaker various times before a miscalculation caused Sheamus' arm to still be attacked with Rio being ruthless in applying the cross armbreaker. Just like their previous three PPV encounters, this was a solid match with great storytelling & selling in regards to Sheamus' arm.

WWE Champion C.M. Punk vs. John Cena - Paul Heyman gave an introduction to "his guy" in Punk before his entrance while Punk work N.Y. Yankees style gear & held up the championship for an extreme amount of time just to get under the skin of the crowd. Both men went back & forth with some wrestling early with Punk showing off to the point where he walked on Cena to go to the top rope which Cena had a response to in attempting an electric chair that was countered into a DDT by Punk followed by taking a page out of Great Muta's playbook with a his variation of a chinlock. Cena got more aggressive throwing Punk into the crowd near his Dad before suplexing him back to ringside with Cena later going out of his comfort zone by doing a suicide dive onto the outside onto Punk. Both men were matching each othe move for move & counter for counter like Punk at one moment caught Cena in the middle of one of his trademark moves into the anaconda vice that was rolled over into an STF that was countered into a crossface & later Cena was able to counter a GTS attempt into the STF before another GTS attempt that countered into an A.A. Both men kept kicking out of each others signature moves while also attempting to aerial with Cena's top rope legdrop & Punk with a moonsault to the point where Punk even took a page out of The Rock's playbook to no avail. Punk is one of those people who can pull the best wrestling performance out of Cena & that continues to be showcased here as this was on the level of their previous Money In The Bank & SummerSlam matches from last year with the only downfall being the finish but it opened the door for another match which is something I wouldn't object to.

In the end, this PPV didn't have a bad match on it & was enjoyable from start to finish to it's worth a viewing.

HASH(0x8ea6fd14) out of 5 stars Really good PPV 10 Mar. 2013

One of the best PPVs I have seen for awhile from WWE. The best match of the PPV is the match between Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton. The whole line up for the PPV is really a star studded line up or PPV. The main event is CM PUnk vs. John Cena for the WWE championship. CM Punk is asking and demanding for respect from the wwe universe. John Cena said a good way to earn respect is to beat him in Boston in his hometown.

HASH(0x8eabb168) out of 5 stars GREAT EVENT 5 Dec. 2012
By fmwaalex - Published on Amazon.com

This event was held in Boston Massachusetts which of course is Cena's home town so naturally he got the title shot against the now longest reigning champ in modern WWE history. This ended up being a very good event with some great matches. The DVD has one special feature which is an interview with Booker T but I wish they would have added the preshow battle royal that Zack Ryder won as well.

1.[I-C TITLE FATAL FOUR WAY MATCH]THE MIZ VS REY MYSTERIO VS SIN CARA VS CODY RHODES-the opening match of the night is a four way match for the I-C title with The Miz entering first with a mic stating his frustrations with the match. This is a pretty good four way match with some good spots throughout. The action picks up as it goes along but to be honest with these four I kinda expected a near classic at least. Still a good match but it would have been great to see Rey and Cara go at it more.

2.[TAG TEAM TITLES]R TRUTH & KOFI KINGSTON VS KANE & DANIEL BRYAN-the second match of the night would be for the tag titles and would be a fun one to watch. Kofi & Truth work well together as the reigning champs but the fun is watching Kane and Bryan try to work together only to fall apart. The action is good here but much like how they won the contenders match Bryan and Kane win the titles by hurting each other, I love it.

3.[US TITLE]ANTONIO CESARO VS ZACK RYDER-after winning a battle royal earlier in the evening Ryder earned a shot at the U.S. title. This wasn't too long of a match with Zack doing alright but this was more about showing off Cesaro. That uppercut looked like it hurt a lot, vicious looking indeed.

4.DOLPH ZIGGLER VS RANDY ORTON-now this was a really good match right here full of back and forth action. The crowd was really into this one and rightfully so. I really liked the counters here in this match and the ending with Orton hitting the RKO was cool. This only adds to my claim that Dolph is always in one of the best if not best matches on the card.

5.[DIVAS TITLE]LAYLA VS EVE-Kaitlyn was going to be the one getting the title shot but she was attacked earlier in the night and was forced out of the match. Layla now had a new opponent and at the beginning tried to show some sportsmanship only to have that turn on her. Eve really dominates this match even taking it to the outside and smashing Layla against the apron and the ring. This is a really good Divas match in my opinion.

6.[WORLD TITLE]SHEAMUS VS ALBERTO DEL RIO-I have to say that I really did enjoy this feud and the whole banning of the Brouge kick and all that. So at the beginning of the match Booker T came out and reinstated the move which of course upset Del Rio. Any way this is a really good match between these two as Del Rio attacks Sheamus's arm while Sheamus is more of the brawler. I know it has been said in other reviews but the selling and storytelling here is really good. I still remember wanting Del Rio to win this but that was not to be. Good thing for Sheamus that that kick was allowed is all I am saying.

7.[WWE TITLE]CM PUNK VS JOHN CENA-it seems like every time CM Punk faces John Cena Cena is in a much better match than he normally is. So any time these two face off I am excited about it. Going into this match John could not take that Punk is demanding respect and Punk could not stand that Cena does not give it to him. I loved that Paul Heyman came out to introduce Punk since he is a "Paul Heyman guy", can't wait to get that shirt by the way. This match is by far my favorite of the night full of high spots, pure wrestling, and multiple near falls which add to the drama. It also helps that this was in Cena's home town. The match was back and forth with Cena kept coming with the high impact moves and Punk more of the technician. Both countered each other well and even kicked out of each other's signature moves. Punk's moonsault and his Randy Savage elbow drop are still favorites of mine. Now as for the finish were most hated it I actually loved it, let me explain. The ending in which Cena belly to back suplexes Punk for the pin keeps the belt on Punk and still lets Cena save face in his home town, it also continues the storyline between the two. Do I prefer that Punk would straight up win, yes, but still I didn't mind the outcome.

In the end I would say that I enjoyed the entire event and would say that this is worth buying. It has some great matches and would fit in with any collection one might have. For the most part this event helped put over some good storylines that were happening at the time. In the end it was an entertaining PPV and that is all we can really ask for right?

HASH(0x8e8f70c0) out of 5 stars WWE Night of Champions 2012 17 Sept. 2012
By J. Perez - Published on Amazon.com
The Fatal Four-Way match for the Intercontinental title had nice high-flying from both Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara with nice wrestling action from both The Miz and Cody Rhodes. The Tag Team title match between the team of Kofi Kingston and R-Truth against the team of Kane and Daniel Bryan had pretty good tag action even with the dumb ending. The United States title match between Antonio and Zack Ryder was a solid hard-hitting bout. The Randy Orton-Dolph Ziggler match was a back-and-forth bout. The Divas title match between Layla and Eve Torres was a brutal ground-and-pound yet one-sided bout. The Worlds title match between Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio was a smash-mouth bout. The WWE title match between CM Punk and John Cena started off pretty good but later got turned into intense,heart-pounding, nail-biting bout even with the double-pin draw in the end. I give this event a 8 out of 10.

HASH(0x8e8f7354) out of 5 stars Solid PPV 26 Dec. 2012

Has a lot of solid matches. The seemingly never ending feud between Del Rio and Sheamus was one of the biggest detriments as it was slow, boring, clumsy, and really something one can skip over. Match of the night by far is Punk vs Cena. These two definitely know how to create a great match and they show it here. So overall definitely worth a look if only for the punk/cena match.
