The only thing I can really say about this is that I hope the author doesn't actually *believe* the nonsense written, but I'm very afraid that he does.

The story is conspiracy-theory driven and in conflict with documented reality. As someone who became aware of AIDS years before it hit mainstream consciousness -- before it had even acquired the name AIDS -- and as someone with a bit of research and biology training -- I can say that what is presented here is unfortunately a gross misrepresentation of real, named people and of the actual state of research. The cranks are celebrated. The real heroes in the fight are vilified. I love lab-lit; this book just makes me cringe. I'm rather sorry it is an e-version, there were multiple points at which I wanted to chuck it at the wall in rage at the misrepresentations that he works so hard at.

Maybe the author is genuinely unaware of just how much evidence we have of HIV -- including the entire life cycle of the virus, both tracked in human beings and displayed by electron microscope in each step along the path.

Maybe the author is genuinely unaware of just how difficult it is to fight a virus that mutates readily and hides in the immune system itself.

Maybe the author is genuinely unaware of the evidence base, put together by thousands of researchers, on which current treatments of AIDS rests -- and its actual (not imagined, as per this book) success rate. In the first few years of HIV/AIDS, a diagnosis was a death sentence. Now, it is something that many have come to regard as simply a chronic condition.

Maybe the author is unaware of how HIV/AIDS denialism, of precisely the type espoused by this book, has cost hundreds of thousands of people their lives, when governments like S.

I read, with growing shock and horror,as this book unfolded. My heart was breaking as I read all the evidence given by the plaintiffs.Having recently watched a programme about the aids epidemic in San Francisco I thought I could'nt be more shocked. How wrong I was. What scared me the most was the fact that this drug is still being prescribed in third world countries, and the sheer "Dont give a damn"attitude of the American government.I have several friends who are HIV positive and have told them about this book. They were, without exception, shocked to there cores that this was allowed to happen even when so many people voiced concerns about the drug in question.Even the man who discovered it would not sanction its use.I sympathise with everyone who lost a loved one through this gross error.I found the book to be heartbreaking, riviting, compulsive reading.

Below I have copied and pasted my review of 'Are You Positive' by the same author. I've not done this out of laziness but because I have the same opinion on both books. And this is the reason why I gave this one 4 stars, and the last one 5 stars, the books were too similar for me and on some points repetitive. My recommendation is read one or the other, or if reading both leave a long period of time between them both, as having read 'Are You Positive' only a few weeks ago this took away a lot of the enjoyment from this book.

'Just finished this book and instantly had to download 'the aids trial'. Half way through this book I found myself with pen and paper in my hand making notes on things I wanted to check out further. Yes, this book is fiction, but it raises a lot of questions. The subject matter is not personal to me in any way but the way this book was written got me fascinated in the subject. As other reviews have mentioned and I'm willing to believe, there's probably lots of studies that contradict what is discussed in this book, but is it really so bad if this book leads people to read more about the subject matter and learn more than what has been in the media about Aids?
Powerful book that is well written. I read a few books a week and this is the first in about 6 months that I have given 5 stars too.'

Written as a court room drama this tells of the controversy re. HIV/AIDS & the drugs used in treatment & was riveting. Every point was explained & at the end the authors notes were certainly something to give cause for concern. As to the other side of the argument there was no defence offered in the story & was written in such a way so as to make the book a manageable size. After all we have all heard this side of the story for many years. Controversial -certainly but ultimately very worrying & dreadfully sad.

We live in an age where profit comes before honesty, and the media print what suits their purpose. Finally we are getting the truth through, even though it has been there for a long time.

Forget the media brain washing, if you want to know all about HIV or/and Aid$ this is one of the books you will need to educate yourself.

We were told and assured the Thalidomide was safe, but then the result was obviously not the case; however with AZT the deaths were blamed on Aid$ and nobody asked any questions, or those that did were ridiculed and not listened to. It's now time to wake up and ask the questions and be heard!

Brilliantly written and although perhaps one sided, we all know the other side as we have been bombarded and brainwashed with it for the last 25 years at the cost of many lives needlessly lost!

Well done Steven Davis
